If your hair is not highlighted properly or your maintenance schedule is wrong it could cause your hair to break. However, no amount of coloring will cause follicular damage. You may be experiencing male pattern baldness. Unfortunately there is not much you can do about it. I would suggest using a product called Nioxin. It is a system of shampoos/conditioners and scalp treatments that work to nourish the scalp and keep the hair from shedding. You can find it at any salon or possibly if you have an ULTA Cosmetics store in your area.

If your hair is damaged by the highlights that could be causing it, but my brother is only 22 and going bald. Is your dad or uncles bald? I think it is genetic

where do these people get there info?? if your hair was thinning from a botched hi-light it would show signs of breakage not disappearance!! color is fine for your hair if you know what you are doing and have no allergic reaction. I have been hilighting and coloring my hair and hundreds of others for 26 yrs.

It's nothing to do with the highlights. You're going bald. Get used to it - it will get worse!
On the plus side, I and many other women, love bald men.
