My doctor had me on Prozac, and it wasn't helping. Switched me to Celexa. I told the Dr. that all I wanted to do was sleep and didn't need anything that would make me tired and sleepy. Doctor said Celexa would give me energy. I have only been taking it about 3 days, but I feel "loopy" and extremely sleepy! Anyone else experience this? Will it get better?

when I first started using Celexa, the worst side effect was drowziness & insomnia! It will get better. The loopy feeling is the brain chemicals (mainly seratonin) getting realigned.

Keep taking it. It will get better.

SIDE EFFECTS: The most commonly-noted side effects associated with citalopram are nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, headache, tremor, and inability to sleep. Overall, between 1 in 6 and 1 in 5 persons experience a side effect. Some patients may experience withdrawal reactions upon stopping some SSRIs such as paroxetine, and such symptoms also may occur with citalopram. Symptoms of withdrawal include dizziness, tingling sensations , tiredness, vivid dreams, irritability or poor mood.

It's only been 3 days. That should be the worst of it. Keep taking it. It will get better. It takes 4 - 6 weeks for anti-depressants to work at their best. Hang in there if you can.

Keep taking it. It should pass in the weeks to come. With my experience, the drowsiness did not go away. All I wanted to do was take naps whenever I had the opportunity. I now take half a dose and that has helped tremendously.

It did not a negative effect on me at all.

I stopped after 3 weeks though because it just seemed a cop out to depend on medication to feel content.

I do not miss taking it at all lus, I have recovered from a slight case of sadness.
