I'm at home living with my brother, and he is 11, I'm 16, he's just been diagnosed with both ADHD and Asperges, and I'm hoping to do some research to show my mum, and brother that I'm willing to help out! Does anyone here know anything about Asperges and ADHD? I know some stuff, but not alot. Also,, I find that most people I know with Asperges has been born through ceserean, anyone else have a similar experience?

ok, well my little bother has got mild asperges syndrome. asperges syndrome is a type of autism. children [and adults] with this can often find it hard to concentrate. sarcasm can not always be properly understood and they find it harder to read emotions. there are varying degrees of it though.
my brother was also born through ceserean, but i dont know if it affects it. my brother was also given the tripple mmr vaccine which my other brother [without autism] didnt recieve. it is much more common in boys than in girls.
remember he is still your brother and dont treat him any differently than you used to, maybe it is not so bad as they only found it when he was 11! i dont know though, i myself am only 14! :s
ummm just help your mum around your hme with washing tidying and try nt to do anything that would annoy her, eg) staying out late and so on, but just try and carry on as normal. a good book is 'the curious incident of the dog in the night time', by Mark Haddon im not saying youre brother will turn out like this ki, chances are he wont, but it shows the pros and cons of asperges syndrome. add me on msn or emailme if you just want to talk, wonderhat@hotmail.com
good luck! hope everything turns out ok for you
actualy
i KNOW it will!

I don't know much about asperges, but a bit about autism. HAving an autistic shild in the family can be hard on everyone. I have read a book/novel called Riddlechild, by Annelie Botes. It deals around a family, who has an autistic son (and also two older daughters) and the impact that something like that had on the family. It's an easy read as such, but it is deeply upsetting knowing the troubles others go through. Maybe reading that other are going through the same (or sometimes even worse) might help. But i think the fact that you ary trying is the first step, and a great one at that. Best of luck x

Hi, I can't advise you on any medical research but I can recommend a good book to you- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon. It's a fictional book but it is about a young boy who suffers from Asperges Syndrome and it may give you a lot of insight into how you brother's mind works- which would be help you to be considerate to your brother's needs. The book won many awards and was heavily researched by the author. Give it a read, hope it helps and Good luck!

I don't believe that ADHD actually exists, it's just a label that is put on children who have not been adequately disciplined.

Asperger's Syndrome is part of the wide-ranging spectrum of Autism, and needs specialist intervention and guidance from experts who are well versed in the therapies attached to people suffering from Asperger's.

Although he has been diagnosed he is no different from the way he has always been. And knowing what it is that makes him different will be helpful to you and your mum.

An excellent resource is here:-

http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/

which is an American site, but a very useful one with links and a forum.

My grandson has Asperger's, and although he was born naturally, the pregnancy was a very difficult one with many problems. He is now 13, and is growing into a very eccentric, but very lovable personality. :)

ADHD is a fictional condition used to label unruly or wild kids

with asperges it depends on how bad it is. when i was in school there was only one person in the school anyone was aware had asperges (or autism, for that matter) and he got on with most people, i considered him a friend. he was a little quirky and over-enthusiastic (everyone egged him on, including myself, to a certain degree because it was funny) sometimes but not to a level were it was obvious he had a problem. to an outsider he was normal, and he settled down in the later years

Trawl through this site it gives a lot of info, I'm not sure about you Cesarean theory though had'nt heard that before.
You as a family now need to support each other and take care that no one feels left out because your little brother will take a lot of attention. Good luck and make sure you get a break every now and then just for you.

Asperger's Syndrome, except for the cause is well-documented. There are plenty of books available through your local library or through Amazon.
