I LOVE them, i think they are wonderful pets. I will someday own one, when i get a house, and move out of this appartment. I have honestly Never met a pit bull who didn't like people. The only thing is that i've seen a lot of them don't like other dogs. But most of the ones i have met are well socialized and love Everyone and Everything. But my parents, and a few other people i know think that pit bulls are always terrible dogs, and never give them a chance. They believe that every pit bull will turn on its owners and attack them. I know this is not true. I was just wanted to hear your opinions.

Bad pit bulls come from bad owners. Just like with any dog. But the media likes to talk about the bad pit bulls. The only dogs i've ever been bitten by were a beagle and a golden retriever. But no one remembers except for me. I think pit bulls are wonderful dogs that need to have good owners, so people can see how wonderful they really are. I hope someday the media notices more of the good owners with good dogs, that way less pit bulls would end up in animal shelters that don't adopt out pit bulls. It kills me that so many wonderful dogs don't get homes because of their breed. They really are nice dogs. And i've researched them for a long time, i know a pit bull is right for me.

My husband and I have one. They ARE they snuggliest dogs, they love to get on the bed, get in your lap and follow you to each room. I don't care to ever own another breed of dog except for a APBT. Screw what everybody else says-tell them to educate themselves on these dogs. That is racial profiling! Buy books and go on line and definitely check this movie out-watch it in its entirety http://gprime.net/flash.php/thepitbullproblem.

I could never own a Pit Bull, I think it's a little too risky. I've never personally met a Pit Bull that wasn't one of the sweetest dogs. I am not afraid of the breed and hold nothing against the dogs or their owners. No matter what kind of dog you have you run the risk of possibly one day that dog might snap and attack someone -- you run that risk with your children though too. The scary thing about Pit Bulls is the strength they have in their jaws and their commitment to stay latched on.
Pit Bulls like any dogs can be fantastic pets if they are raised with love and respect. I do think it's a shame there are so many bands against the dogs. Why can't these communities enforce leash/containment laws -- a pit bull fenced in it's own backyard can't hurt anyone unless someone trespasses. Too many people look at the worst case scenario. I myself am not willing to take the risks of the dog turning on my family or neighborhood kids. I would also hate to have to lose a loved family member because my city decides to enforce a ban.

Pit bulls can be good dogs if raised properly and well socialized like you said. It makes me mad to hear people blame the breed when it's not, it's the owners. Yeah there might be a dog here and there that is just plain mean but that happens in almost every breed of dog. My sister has had a few pit bulls and all of them were big babies and loved people.

I think Pit Bulls can be very good pets. I've met 2 Pit Bulls who were the nicest dogs around. The one I met didn't even bark when someone would come to the door, he'd just try to lick you to death. I believe that its the owners that make them into bad animals. And that can be true for any dog. They just need love and attention and to not be boxed up all the time.

I think a pit bull would make a wounderful pet for someone with the right conditions. Just like any other animal, its environment can effect the way that the animal behaves, so if it is cramped in a small apartment and doesn't get socialized then of coarse the animal can become aggressive because it may be frustrated. I don't believe that vicious dogs are born they are made. So good call with wanting to wait until you have the room for one, your not only making a good choice but a fair one to your future best friend.

I LOVE them too. Although you do have to a responsible owner... even more so than with many other breeds. Pits are a lot of work but the rewards they give your are never ending. I own a Pit Bull who is the biggest lap dog and it such a sweetie. There are a lot of bad press going on on this breed... and it is such a tragic thing. There are so many stories online that are positive Pit Bull stories... but you will never find them on TV. Did you know that about 1 million pits are euthanized in shelters every year? Did you know that they are then number one abused dog in america? Only 1 out of 9 Pit Bulls will live out there natural life. Pit Bulls receive high marks on average according to the American Temperament Society at 83.5% passing rate.(Which is better than the Golden Retriever) Pit Bulls have a lot to face.. but with people who are looking out for them and trying to change the "lifestyle" that so many Pit Bull owners want for them (fighting, and protection) it will happen. It may be a slow process but people need to see Pit Bulls in a new light. BSL does not work! I cannot stress that enough. BSL only takes good dogs from good owners and forces the drug dealers to find a new breed. Its horrible.
I strongly suggest you educate yourself as much as possible about this wonderful, yet misunderstood breed. Here are some websites for you to look around in. Once you educate yourself you will not be able to stop caring for this abused breed. Education is key! Pass it on!

when i was growing up, a pit bull was my family dog. her name was angel and she was great. i've just recently come in contact with two more pitbulls and found that they are wonderful too. as with any dog, the wrong owner showing them aggressive behavior can lead to problems, but like everyone else said, it's all in the raising.

No, your fears at the instant are not stupid. all and sundry of them has its very own individual temperament. My husband raised pit bulls. a number of them have been loving, some weren't. some ought to fool you into thinking they have been advise and weren't. something this is smaller than they're, they're going to bully. in case you won't be in a position to look one interior the eyes without it barking, then be very careful of it. One clutter we had attacked the runt of the clutter and almost killed it if I had no longer long previous out and grabbed it. they're basically too distinctive in nature to have faith them. I relatively have never been petrified of a pit bull different than for one, and he had a real killer intuition. This communicate got here up until eventually now at right here, and that i replaced into derided for asserting this. i eventually advised the guy that I had greater suitable issues to do daily than to communicate pit bulls along with her, yet have faith me, i understand what i'm speaking approximately. they have killed too many infants and attacked too many human beings to have faith them.

they are a wonderful breed of dog(just like every other). people screw them up and then the dog has to pay for it. very sad. owning an animal is a privilege and responsibility...not a right. not everyone should have pets.
