Did she knock her head on something? If she did, go to your freezer and grab any bag frozen vegies you cann find (corn and peas work best) and put it on her lump. If you can't find that, then just put a few pieces of ice in a plastic bag and put a wet paper towel around the bag and put on her lump. Then call her parents and tell them. If she's hit her head hard and she's sleepy or vomitting, call 911 immediately. If it wasn't too bad, then call her parents.

Obviously it's concerning enough to you to be posting this question...so this merits a doctor visit. If it's a "lump" vs. a "bump" it's most likely a benign cyst. (Not uncommon). That said, why guess? She's your precious niece. Take her to the doctor.

How did she get the lump? Is it always there? Does it move?
