When we were younger-we had some really bad things happen which forced my brother to quit school. I was already out. He finally took his test and now has his GED.
I know that may not seem like much to some of you, but I'd like to celebrate it somehow.
I am very proud of him and now he wants to start going to a community college.
The other thing is - the bad thing that happened years ago is not over, how can we keep ourselves emotinoally fit not to let it screw up our lives again?

A Great question:)

Congrats to your Brother in attaining his GED....That is a huge good thing in his life.

For a celebration: I suggest two things...a quiet inexpensive dinner...He will be the quest of Honor, of course.

Tell him you will help him to enroll in a community college...ask Him to take one class...one class only. That will allow him to get accustomed to the College campus. If he passes the class, he will feel more confident in himself. Later, he can enroll in more classes as time permits.

The past events can be addressed over time....talk to each other face to face and address the issues in a calm and adult manner.

Make an oral agreement that because you are Bother and sister, you can be each others Best friend.

My sister to this day is my Best friend.... for over 15 years we meet and talk on the Phone all of the time.

It is all about Family...enjoy and be very proud of your Brother and be sure you tell him, how much pride you have for his attaining his GED.

Chow and Good Luck.

I had some really bad problems like that too and I got my GED in 2005. Hey it's a jump start. His future has broadened now. Get him a cake that says congrats and maybe some ballooons and maybe even a gift. If he has alot on his mind, take him out for a day to relax. Even if it's doing nothing but getting a small cake for just you two and going to a local park. Just something to tell him how proud you are and to help him see everything will get better. Have fun!

I would throw him a surprise party to celebrate him getting his GED. That is wonderful!! I would make a sign that says," YOU FINALLY DID IT!! CONGRATULATIONS!!"
Make sure he knows you're proud of him. Give him a card with money. He'll need it for college. Sounds like his life is turning around.
I don't know what "bad thing" you're referring to, that isn't over, but maybe going to church, keeping a positive attitude, keeping in touch with your brother to see how he's doing with everything, might help. Keep busy in your life and hopefully, what ever the "bad thing" you're referring to, will be over eventually. Good luck and hope this helped!!

Take him out for a nice dinner and tell him how proud you are that he has reached this new level. Let him know how important it is to continue your education and that going to community college is a step in the right direction.

As for the problem, talk amongst yourselves and do what you can to improve the situation..but dont let yourself get dragged down by it.

i've got experienced it firsthand. See, My parents have been given pregnant with me while my mom replaced into 18, and my dad replaced into 17. They have been given married ideal after commencement. They now have 3 toddlers (an prolonged time 14, 12, 8) and function separated and reconciled 6 situations on account that i replaced into 2. My dad is at present attempting to flow returned to college and now my parents are divorced. i've got no longer considered my mom, brother, or sister in continuously. i comprehend that in the event that they waited longer, they might've undemanding that they weren't meant for another and then i does no longer be having the matters i'm (i.e. panic assaults, random spells of crying, insomnia, melancholy, etc...) i flow to work out to it that i flow the alternative direction with my existence, so as that my toddlers won't submit with what my siblings and that i did. i'm hoping this replied your question, or helped in any way essentially Yours', Katie H. Throw a big party for just those who care about your brother and let them all show him how proud they all are of him. You should make a sign that reads: " I am so proud of you" and put it up above the door and when he gets in, he will be very happy. Let him know that its a big deal for you as well
