Not really, bodybuilders are now often using implants. When just out of high school I was a mountain and glacier climbing instructor for the canadian armedforces. My legs especially my calves became abnormally strong (as did my grip) but no change in size. At the gym I freak the hard core bodybuilders out because I can easily move the calf machine on maximum setting hundreds of times with just one leg. either leg. A holdover to my military days I guess

You need to work your calf muscles extremely hard for them to grow. There are specific exercises that you can do, such as simply holding heavy weights in both hands and going up on your toes and slowly back down on your feet over and over again. You can try leaning against a wall and doing it 1-legged.

I suppose running uphill with some form of weight on you would be quite a work out for your calves as well.

One very easy exercise you can do is to stand on a step with just your tipie toes. Do different set of reps by just going up and down on your tipie toes. You could also run up a hill backwords. I am a fitness consultant if you wanted to purchase some equipment to help you with your exersices I could assist you, I sell a hoist home gym with a leg press that would greatly increase the strength of you calves if interested.
