Both will play regular DVDs.
At this time you just cannot play
the Blu-Ray on the HD DVD players
and visa-versa. Not to mention that you
cannot play the high-resolution discs on the
standard resolution DVD players.

Yes, they can. In fact, both types of players also make good "upconverters" which convert the video from a DVD to a higher-definition signal that, while not as good as the image from an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc, looks better on an HDTV set than a regular DVD player's output would.

There are also upconverting DVD players that upconvert DVD's without having the ability to play HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs.

blu-ray is plenty extra desirable, even nonetheless i can't get as many blu-ray video clips right here it relatively is been hassle-free sufficient to reserve them from the states or someplace else. no longer basically are they liberating new video clips yet they're additionally liberating previous video clips directly to blu-ray too, they have fairly a set relatively. planet earth replaced into between the 1st blu-ray issues i've got been given and that i replaced into blown away with how crystal sparkling the image is. of course the reality that the blu-ray discs save extra documents makes them extra useful too, we are able to work out lots extra of specific good factors etc that's great for action picture enthusiasts. it is going to likely be interesting to work out how they fill the discs.
