Ok so I am 25 years old and I am such a big kid. Everything I do for my kids are things that I remember LOVING as a child. Here are some games/activities I loved! My 2 1/2 year old son loves to play the 3rd one here at the house with his own toys!
1. Pinata full of candy and cheap little toys
2. Scavengar Hunt
3. Fishing Pond - You will need a helper for this activity. Use an old fishing pole, or make one using a stick and some string. Attach a clothespin on the end of the fishing pole's string. Let each guest take a turn "casting" their line over an object (couch, table with table cloth, or table turned on it's side). Have your helper stand on the other side and attach small gifts, favors, or treats to the clothespin. When they're done, the helper gives a slight tug on the line. When the kids "reel" in their lines, they'll be delighted to see what they've caught!

When things get crazy, when the kids are going nuts---maybe fighting to give your son his presents, use the ultimate kid party game: Simon Says.
Jump in front of the crowd, slap both hands to your head and shout "Simon says put your hand on your head" and freeze there, making eye contact with the kids as they freeze and put their hands on their heads.
Lots of folks have given you party game ideas, I just know this game is a lifesaver.

my mum used to put a lot of flower into a bowl pat it down then tip it upside down to make a sort of cake. Then she would put a coin in the very top.
Each person had to take it in turns to cut a slice off of the flour without making the coin drop.
The person who made the coin drop would have to pick it up with their mouth.
It was very fun and very messy.
I also loved pass the parcel - especially if there is a sweet in each wrapper before the full prize.

You could always try a theme, or some kind of focussed activity, like go-karting or race car driving?
