Your second question is a good one. We should all admit our mistakes and take ownership of them. Everyone is busy blaming everyone else.
There has to be a God, otherwise, how do we exist? All of science and the big bang theory, etc. always ends up to the final question, how did the elements that caused the big bang (if that is how you believe earth was formed) get there in the first place? Even if it is said that there was just darkness and gases mixed with other materials, how did that substance get there? Can having such a fine tuned and perfected DNA string in each individual really have just been and accident? Is the order of the way the earth survives along with the sun and moon and other solar planets just an accident? How can something so very well designed be an accident? It is not realistic.
What is so bad about the idea of a supreme being or GOD anyway?

You are responsible for your own actions. You can find your own path or guidance you choose Heaven or Hell. He is the creator who creates out of nothing. Your life is a gift, the earth is a gift for you. the food you eat is a gift for you. The good friends you have is a gift for you. The talents you have is a gift for you. the clothes on your back is a gift for you. My point to you is without the supreme being (God) you have nothing.

Did you trust your parents when a child?
“IT’S time to go!” announces the father to his five-year-old son. The father extends a hand, and without hesitation the son reaches out and wraps his small hand around his father’s fingers. Wherever the journey may lead, the child trusts in the guidance of his parent and follows with confidence. Come what may, the child’s firm grip remains unbroken.
Living in these days of economic, political, and personal uncertainty, would you not welcome a guiding hand from a source you could trust implicitly? Yet, we live in a time when unscrupulous people take advantage of inexperienced ones. Thus, there is good reason to be cautious as to whom we trust. Perhaps you have been sorely disappointed in the past when someone you relied on for guidance let you down.
Nonetheless, the Bible encourages us to put our trust in God. “For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand, the One saying to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I myself will help you,’” recorded the prophet Isaiah. (Isaiah 41:13) And the apostle Peter advised: “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; while you throw all your anxiety upon him, because he cares for you.”—1 Peter 5:6, 7.

If there wasnt a supreme being u wouldnt be here asking that question. There has to be one God. God lets u make your own path. He doesnt force u to do anything u dont want to. Think of it as an open door policy. If u need Him He is there. If u want to live a fast life, well He will be there to pick up the pieces after u have foolishly said " I want to go my own way". and after u have realized it might not have been a good decision.

I don't need a God. I happen to enjoy being held accountable for my own actions. Then when I achieve something big in my life, I don't have to share the stage with anyone.

Because without a supreme being people have a hard time grasping the concept of life. They need something that explains "the meaning of life", supreme being or otherwise.

Some people are afraid to stand on their own two feet. They need a sky pixie to take care of them and ease their non-rational fears. It is pathetic if you ask me.
