I was home schooled until 9 and taught my own children to read. I have taught in Primary Schools for 18+ years
Most important = reading because you are home schooling you can take it at their own pace so they do not have to fail.
Maths get your + facts upt to 10 learnt then - then x. Make up mental arithmetic games as you take them out to the shops. Buy a maths scheme like Heinemann maths (book at a time).
What you really can do is get them out and interested in things , museums swimming, when they paint you paint. when they write you write. I have a diary from when I was 9. You write one as well. They will do what you do. I dunno if I can give you an email addy try cobham43 at yahoo dot co dot uk. There are also resources for home schooling on the web try google. Good luck
