My hair is short, thick, coarse and wavy. I use organic shampoo, conditioner and styling products. I take vitamin e and eat very healthy. But is there a supplement that helps the hair to grow faster and healthier? What can I use to make the hair feel softer?

If you want hair to grow faster or more healthy, you have to take supplements that work on your body chemistry to support hair's growth and strength at its genesis.....once it has grown out, it is just dead keratin
Try GNC, they make a supplement called " Ultra Nourishair" in formulas for men and women..they are HUGE pills and you have to take 2 daily. There is also a "Hair skin and nails" formula from Andrew Lessman that you can google, that has great ingredients and is easier to swallow, made by ProCaps labs. You can also take large doses of Biotin, sometimes called Vitamin H, take no less than 2500 micrograms daily to support healthy hair growth. It may take 6 to 8 weeks to see results.
have taken the GNC pills for 4 months and supplemented them with extra Biotin because they only have 1200 mcg of Biotin and you should try for a minimum of 2500 micrograms.

I am switching to Procaps labs capsules when I run out of the GNC because Procaps formula has more Biotin in a more pure form with more of the trace elements that support healthy hair growth.

I take about 5000 micrograms which equals 5 milligrams of Biotin daily and my hair is growing fast and thick and dark.

Oh lots of things you can do for your hair! I've found the single best thing is vitaman E capsules. Pretty cheap. Find the highest dose you can buy over the counter and pop open a capsule into your shampoo bottle. They come in gel-caps so even a pin prick will pop them open. Shake vigorously. (This is also extremely good to pop one open into your hand lotion bottle. Skin so soft! Now since you have a whole bottle left (minus one), go ahead and start taking one a day (my idea... if one is good, two is better). Also, as mentioned earlier JELLO! It's good for the hair (but far better for nails). You can buy lots of over-the counter expensive hair products that really do work but why spend the money? I'm almost 50 yrs. old. I have always had thin hair which breaks easily. I use harsh coloring on my hair about every six weeks yet I get a lot of compliments on my hair - the shine and the softness. Believe me, I abuse my hair with hair dryers and hair colors (to stave away the gray roots). If you only try one product - invest in a bottle of Vitaman E gelcaps.

Get the shampoos used for horses. And then the leave in conditioner from Paul Mitchell. Take Vitamin E and Collagen supplements, also. Some girls take prenatal vitamins when they aren't even preggers because of the health boost.

My husband used to take hair supplements, and he found that he had to get his hair cut more often - 1x a week, verses every 2 weeks. He also noticed that his hair was getting thicker on his beard too, etc. So just beware if you take hair supplements, it not only for the hair on your head - it's your hair everywhere!

Nothing will really help it grow faster, but try taking prenatal vitamins. They will help it grow healthier!

There is no such supplement. If there is, it is proven not to work.
