Please bear with me, Im trying to say this as clearly as i can, I have no intention of upsetting anyone, or badmouthing, or blaspheming, and I am trying to find the words to clearly express my question.

Ok. I have noticed that, when confronted with Darwins theory of Evolution, Christians (not all, but the majority) say that they are not monkeys.

Right. I know that you are not monkeys. Thats not what Darwin theory is about. It is about all of us evolving from 'single celled organisms', not monkeys. I know the story about how Eve was formed from Adams rib, and you will believe that, yet you think the idea of you evolving from a single celled organism is outrageous.

Why cant we merge the two? God create the single cell organism and watched us grow into what we are now and what we will become?

I was just wondring why Christians (not all, but the majority) think that Darwin theory said we evolve from monkeys when it was a single cell organism that could have been created by god

Ok to comment on Foxxy,

What if our evolution isnt done. What if we are evolving still. Years ago the average male height at adulthood was around 4 feet. Now it is closer to 6. Just an example.

I have no idea! But, I don't believe fully in evolution. But, most people take people's words and theories out of context. Religious people have to find a meaning and sense for something and they find things wrong with everyone else's beliefs. They believe their belief is the only right belief and I don't agree with that also. There beliefs is not the only true belief, besides who has the authority to say what's right or wrong.

I reconcile the two by saying that God had a plan which He carried out through the process of evolution. If you were the CEO of a corporation you would probably not personally create your company's web site. You would send out a memo explaining what you wanted and would rely on your people to put the web site together. You might have to intervene at a few steps of the process when you saw that things were not going as you planned, but most of the heavy lifting would be done by others.

Hi, Darwin has come under much scrutiny of late and has even been debunked by much of the scientific community. Several books state he came up with his theory to free himself sexually from the Christian morality of his day. Make God go away by using science. No God= no rules or sin, do your own thing as most atheist I know do. Many of Darwin's beliefs were held by Planned Parenthood's followers and Hitler.
First note: There are no missing links found between any creatures. God could have used evolution as a method but he chose not to. The Bible says Gen1:11-25 Animals were made each after it's own kind much as science has found to date. Genetically we are closer to monkeys but chromosomal were are closer to chickens, which is why God sits in the heavens and laughs. You don't think he did that as a grand joke on science? Voltaire a famous 17th century scientist had 88 reasons scientifically the bible would be forgotton. He was debunked on all counts and forgotton, the bible is still a best seller and Voltaire???
Scientists still can not explain many things in creation such as how the human eye works and they can not replicate it. God says his ways are higher than our ways, so we believe him or believe men down here with us??? If he said he made the earth in 7 days (Hebrew word is for a literal 12 hours) than I believe he did it. If you want true Science and god go to Godsaidmansaid.com for some great reading.

P.S. Babby, Truth or no truth? Someone is right and someone is wrong and christians just have the guts to say it, not that we're right, but God is. Are Buddists, American Indians, Hindue Christians all right with such diametrically opossed beliefs. sorry ya aint all going, they are not all right. Choose sides!

In 1859, Charles Darwin published his book entitled On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Darwin theorized that living things were not created but, rather, evolved from previous forms of life by “natural selection in consequence of the struggle for existence.” Finally, man evolved from a kind of ape. Darwin claimed that it was a matter of “survival of the fittest.”

This theory amounts to a blatant denial of the Bible account of creation and man’s fall into sin. It would make Jesus’ ransom sacrifice and the Bible’s teachings about the Kingdom, the resurrection, everlasting life, and a paradise earth meaningless. Moreover, the evolution theory, if true, would relieve mankind of any moral responsibility to the Creator. In proposing “survival of the fittest,” the theory no doubt prepared the ground for Marxism, Fascism, and other ideologies to take root. The advocates of evolution must bear a heavy responsibility for much of the godlessness and suffering in the world today.—Psalm 14:1-4.

Christians should not compromise their beliefs, though from some of the answers I've seen from christians, many ARE compromising their beliefs. God said He "formed man of the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;and man became a living soul." I take God literally at His Word. As for woman,God "caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept:and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib....made He a woman....And Adam said,This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." Again,I take God literally at His Word. This is how God created man and woman. If He would have done it in any other way,He would have told us so in His Word. God didn't create the sinle cell organism and watch us grow over time.He created us in one day exactly how His Word says He did.He is God. Nothing is impossible for Him,and when Christians,or anyone else who believes in God, start questioning how God did things as according to His written Word, they are compromising their faith and literally calling God a liar. If we start questioning God's Word as to how He created us,it is only a matter of time before we start questioning the whole Bible, and that is how people lose their faith and the knowledge God has given them through His Word. Do Not be deceived by man's word, but live by God's Word, for God's Word is the real truth, and there is no room for compromise.
Evolution is nothing more than a lie straight from satan, and atheistic evolutionists promote evolution as the truth for one reason and one reason only: to promote atheism, for they have no room for God in their lives, and they feel noone else should either. Ultimately,it is up to each individual person to decide what to believe, but as for me and my house,we will continue to trust and believe in God,the Author of our Faith, our true Creator.

Your question has merrit and is worth answering.
From my personal/Christian perspective:

My concern is that the theory suggests that life just began from inert matter. This I do not accept. Even the simplest of single cell organisms have a DNA code. This code is comprized of billions and billions of bits of data. The possibility of this single cell organism being formed out of nothing without divine intervention is like an explosion in a print shop resulting in the formation of a dictionary.

If living things evolve then what stops God from evolving also, maybe evolution is God. Why and how could God be static?

walk into a classroom.. a science calssrom or something.. but what you see in there is a picture of us going from a monkey into what we are today and that's what they are teaching in the schools.. That's what they are teaching everywhere..
But to comment on your post, I'm gonna have to say that you CAN'T combine the two.. I mean if we did "evolve" from a single cell organism, I believe that we would still be evolving to this day because evolution is an ongoing process.. it doesn't stop halway and just say that it's enough.. if that was true then we would be something different than what we are now..

So by the time we are done evolving we would be how tall.. tall enough to touch the sky and climb our way to heaven???? i don't think so... Even science's view on evolution is shaky...

Good question - clearly written and an excellent logical point.

Christians on Y!A will misinterpret your question
and call you names.

Most people are unable to think through the possibilities you mention. They think in black or white.

But I agree, some can find a way out by thinking God created to cell, etc.

I think evolution was helped along by God. THere are too many species for us to just come from the same set of cells. I think that God was the variable that we humans have never figured out.
