What's with all the questions about God? Yes, I believe in God. Having something to believe in makes life meaningful. Believing in God and trying to live by his rules provides me with stability, structure and purpose. And since I can't blame him for everything, it helps me deal with my problems one day at a time. I ask him for guidance, clarity and love everyday. I know he listens even when I whine and cry about my issues.

First, define "God". I think the Hebrew Bible is myth. The creation story, the story of Job, the story of Noah, are all clearly of the genre of myths. The God is jealous, petty, cruel, and arbitrary. Again, this is in total alignment with other god myths of the era.

But if you throw out the Hebrew Bible and all of the religious beliefs based upon it, and instead just ask about a supreme creator of the universe, then I have to say I don't know. I think such a being is somewhat improbable, but I also think the entire universe is somewhat improbable! :)

When it is a question of belief then you can make your own choice: either believe in GOD or not believe in GOD, and you can change your choice any time you like.

But when it is a question of "knowing" GOD, then you cant make your choice, either you know or you don't. And for knowing you need a strong evidence.
The default state is "not knowing", and this is not a choice, this is a result of not having evidence. So as long as you don't have evidence you must say: I don't know. and at the moment you have evidence of the existence of GOD, then you must say: I know GOD exists.

Now we can say without being confused:
I don't know if GOD exists, but I believe he exists.
I don't know if GOD exists, and I believe that he doesn't exist

Believing in God is exactly that... a belief. The foundation of God's existence is truly a personal search for what is the purpose of your own existence. With that journey will come a conclusion of your path being part of a higher plan which would require a higher being to dictate that plan or no plan at all and life being built on a series of random acts that occur for no other reason than that they do. Of course there are an infinite number of possibilities in between those two, however it seems to me that most people either believe in one or the other.

Personally I do believe in a higher power and for me it is God through Jesus Christ. I had doubts and began my search for His existence using science. At some point in discussion with knowledgable colleagues my invesitagtion would come down to a miniscule event that would occur that could not be explained in a better way than it was random. Mutations in genetics seem to occur randomly, events in quantum physics can occur randomly, and even those events that aren't random but built on probabilitiy will still need to somehow have a choice made. And for me that wasn't good enough. Every random event and every natural choice that cannot be made by man is part of God's decisions in bringing his plan to life.

To be succinct, I believe in God to help answer life's mysteries.

Well I don't feel there is total proof either way, because there is a book does not mean the authors are credible, how long ago was it written? Also, scientists say they have proof of evolution but again it was so long ago who to believe? I just feel it could go either way. I definetily feel if you believe in the bible go for it especially if it gets you through lifes problems! To believe in a higher power is just fine.

I do, because whenever I think I know something, I usually get taught a lesson through someone who believes in God that humbles me to not be so sure of my own ideas and lean on the understanding of a higher power.

I believe there's a God...Did he create earth in 7 days? No. Does he hate gays? No. Did Jesus turn water into wine? No. Does any one religion have it "right". Definitely not.
I believe in God but the bottom line is that it doesn't matter what you have faith in, as long as you have faith.
