She asked for layers around her face and the woman gave her a femullet. Seriously, it's awful. The woman also kept her change and gave herself a $10 tip.

first let me say if your friend was unhappy with the cut she should have said that when it was cut and had them fix it, or refuse to pay the place she had it done does not have to refund her money or even fix the cut because payment constitutes approval of service.but it never hurts to ask so she should ask but she needs to remember that they do not have to fix or refund her money.

Depending on the type of system they use in their salon it may be hard for her to get her money back. They may want to offer her and "adjustment" or basically to try and fix it. I would call the salon and ask to speak to either the manager (If it's a commission situation) or the owner (if it's a rental situation) and tell her the problem. She may be the person to have adjust the cut for you. I can't say without seeing the cut but if it's just a matter of a few corners that need to be removed then I would say go back to the girl who cut it and tell her you're not happy with it. If it's just plain "WRONG" and the owner/manager won't adjust it for you take it as a loss and don't go back! My advice to people is always ask those who you see on the street who have great hair and once you hear the same name twice....that's who you go to!
I'm sorry that happened to you! But at least it's just hair and it will grow.

depending on the salon they prob. wont give $ back but offer a correction. The time it took to do her hair cant be given back and most stylist work off commission. Depending on the salon you have to go back to the person who cut her hair because she already got paid for it although a smart salon owner will make sure you are happy and if you dont want to go back to org. stylist either fix it themself or offer to pay the new stylist that fixes it and take the loss just to keep your friend happy and get her to come back. You would be surprised though, if she goes back to the org. stylist to correct it, she may just love it. Some times stylists have a bad day or a hard time with some hair cuts. We are only human. Give her a second chance to make it right. I would hope some one would do that for me.

I had this happen once. I called the salon owner and explained that I was not happy with the cut I had received at her shop. She had me come in right away and trimmed me up at no charge. As it turned out , it wasn't the cut that made my hair look strange, it was the highlight job, but I was given a free appointment to have it corrected. It was all taken care of and I still go to this salon. They handled it very professionally.
