I agree that it's very tiresome when people ask a reasonable, civilised question and get a rant in reponse (e.g. Noor's response to this question).
But on the other hand some people do ask questions that seem designed to wind up people of other faiths, and it's not surprising when people get wound up as a result.
I think people's idea of what constitutes a challenging question and what constitutes a deliberate insult often differ.
But I think we should all try to get over this - after all this forum could be a really good place to build some real understanding among people of different faiths and no faith at all.

I'm British born and breed(white, blue eyed,Scott). I've been a Muslim for 2 years now and have absolutely no problem at all people asking simple questions about my belief and faith. Challenge away. No problem here. But to insult and say degrading, incorrect and hateful things a whole other issue entirely. I am the vioce of britain just as much as the next person.

"Traditionally non British faiths"??
Whats one of those then?
Would a British Muslim come under that heading??
Hows that for a 'challenging' question?

hi chancer!
yeah you make a good point- you should be able to express your opinion without feeling the need to apologise- as long as your intent is honourable, debate is a healthy part of ensuring positive change in society. i like the fact that you have not targeted this question souly at one faith, as some people do, just to get a rise out of them, and spur on a hate campaign..well done!

Sometimes their faith has never been questioned, so they don't have any answers. Nobody likes feeling undermined.
