Grasp the tick as close to the dogs skin as possible with a tweezer or if you must your fingers. Pull the tick straight out without twisting so the head doesn't break off. Put the tick into small jar with alcohol or acetone and this will kill it. When this is completed wash the bite area on your dog with peroxide or alcohol (avoid the eye area) and wash your hands.
Sometimes there is a small bump where the tick had been feeding but it will go away. Watch your dog for any signs of Lymne Disease
which can be stiffness, listless or just feeling down. If these symptoms should appear, get him to a Vet and the dog will be given antibiotics.

first put some rubbing alcohol on the tick (or you could use ice) then take some tweezers and pull the tick STRAIGHT out of your dog...easy as that...there is also this really great product called Pro-Tick remedy - which you can get by writing to

I recommend this if your dog gets a lot of ticks...and it's the easiest way.

a bottle
tweezers
lighter fluid
alcohol or witch hazel or peroxide
have a bottle ready with lighter fliud in it this kills the ticks
then take twezers and make sure you gt the head of the tick and remove it then put either alcohol or peroxide on the skin of dog and throw the tick in the lighter fluid.and trash the bottle
this is what ii do but im sure there is other ways but this is easy and safe.also you should put some tick and flea control on your dog to make sure he stays healthy and tick free.

In the UK we use a little tool called a tick hook - it hooks around the neck of the tick and you spin it round - i.e. twist the tick - the tick comes out really easily. There is less risk of leaving the head or jaws in this way. Best way to kill a tick after removal is to crush it.
There are flea treatments in the UK that also kill or repel ticks (Frontline/Advantix) Frontline can be applied directly to ticks and will kill them.

Tweezers, but make sure you get the head out. Some people will say to burn it with a match, but I don't like to do that. Just grab it as close to the head as you can, and yank it out fast, like you're pulling a bandaid.

The safest way is to heat up a needle or straight pin with a lighter (wear gloves) and pierce the tic with it. Typically they will back out. Then you can burn it or flush it down the toilet.
If it doesn't back out, I have heard to try olive oil which will kill it - then you have to pull it out manually.
