Congratulations on a great question. As a Jew I would like the priviledge to answer your question. The main prayer for Judiasm says, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." Jesus' believers hold to the Trinity which is, The Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost which are three, Three minus one are two, which are two too many for Jews. I do not know a Jewish person who does not respect Jesus and his great teachings. Thanks for acknowledging our past suffering and may God bless you.

well... considering that jesus and his hate-mongering against jews in the new testament ("synagogue of satan" sound familiar?) has always been the CAUSE of jewish suffering for two millennia... i think you can understand why
half a century ago the famous holocaust survivor elie wiesel was sitting in an interview with a catholic writer Francois Mauriac who seemed to relate everything in the conversation to jesus. finally wiesel got fed up and burst out that while christians love to talk about the suffering of jesus, "...ten years ago, not very far from here, i knew jewish children every one of whom suffered a thousand times more, six million times more, than christ on the cross. and we don't speak about them."

Because he fulfilled none of the messianic prophesies.
Further, by the nature of his birth, as claimed in Matthew, he is immediately disqualified as a candidate for messiah or king.
Is it any wonder the Jews of the time, and since have rejected him.

Because they couldn't conceive of His being born from a woman in that area.
They didn't like the fact that He was humble and that He came to serve.
To sum it all up, He didn't meet their standards of what they thought a Messiah should be.

The Jews were surprised that their King turned out to be someone so humble and so despised at the end.

a) others have suffuered much worse than himself. for example, rabbi akiva had his skin raked off his body. His last words "hear O Israel, the L-rd our G-d, the L-rd is one!" (deut 6:4).
besides, jesus didn't fulfill anything the messiah was supposed (and several that he wasn't!).

Their parents would make them feel guilty and their Jewish relatives would disown them if they found out they believed Jesus is the Messiah. They are taught to believe what is passed down to them from their grandparents and parents without question.

I think the reason is that they were expecting a warier type of leader, as He will be the next time He comes.
