Assuming that this is a criminal case (where the rapist has the potential to go to jail) versus a civil case (where the rapist has to pay money for damages) the burden of proof is on the alleged rapist. If the gal that was raped has the courage to prosecute the offender it is best for her and the prosecution to show that this was not a one-time incident, but a repeat offence. Often times an offender with no history of behavior is able to use creative lawyering to lighten a sentence or side-step the law. Presenting two victims (if the court allows it) will strengthen the case and hopefully bring closure for you both. I would suggest that you go to court if you can handle it. Court rooms are nasty places.

It's embarrassing and scary to report a rape. It's not an easy thing to do! Going to court with this girl and discussing your rape will bring back memories and feelings of the incident. However, if the court grants your testimony you will have a second chance to deal with this situation, relieve yourself of the guilt for never reporting your rape and give this guy a longer jail sentence. This will bring you closure. I feel that going to court is definitely worth it!

Go...you may not have had the courage to stop him when it happened to you but now you can back up another girl and show the pattern of his rapes. You can't prosecute but you can help her. Her lawyer will give you a better idea of why you are needed...make sure you get him off the street before he rapes again, do whatever you can!

I think you should go because you can offer personal testimony about what happened if you can prove it was that guy. All you can do is offer it to the prosecutor and if they want to use it then they will. They'll probably send you to a psychologist first to see if you're telling the truth but from the feelings you described in your post those are the feelings you would probably go through after something like that.

You title explained it all, you should with no doubt in your mind go to the court and testify against your rapist, the more victims the more times he'll serve behind bar. If you fail to go then you might as well come back to the Yahoo question an Ask us "Rapist strikes again and again and again!!!!!?????

i will assure you as a retired police officer I have been given very bored with the revolving door criminal gadget. we'd actually see human beings get out of penitentiary until now we had executed the comments. One night we stopped a guy for DUI and found out we had placed him in penitentiary approximately 3 hours until now and he became nevertheless under the impact of alcohol, have been given at the back of the wheel and drove returned! Rape is a terrible, brutal crime and that i've got not any thought why all and sundry might deserve a 2d or third strike until now going to penitentiary for sturdy, exceptionally people who prey on infants! they say that's high priced to maintain somebody in penitentiary, yet how lots does it fee in terms of ruined lives, lost sense of safety, medical costs for the sufferers?

Sadly since you obviously know the girl, and she told you about the details already by know your judgment to testify is tainted. Since you did not file a complaint or a police report, there is nothing saying it happened then and are not just coming forward to try to make him go to jail. You can try but the defense attorney is likely going to have you removed as a witness, or putting you up there and calling you a liar.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Don't feel dumb, now you have your chance to give him what he deserves. GO TO COURT! I know it won't be easy to relive everything but the pain you went through, I'm sure, was terrible. You don't want him out in the world to do that to others.
