I live in Myrtle Beach aka the "Redneck Riviera" I would say that the effects have been both good and bad. On the bad side, the traffic is just God awful, crime spikes every summer, and it's almost impossible to go out anywhere to eat and not have to wait at least an hour for a table. That, plus if I have to listen to one more person tell me how much better they do something "back home" I may scream.
On the good side, I have met many interesting people I may not have otherwise met, the city works very hard to attract businesses and amenities to make us a desirable vacation destination, and tourists spend A LOT of money here, which my business does get some of. All it all, the good cancels out the bad.

No bad effects from tourism as it is basically sustained by these visitors. However, after the new year when passports are required to enter and leave the USA it will probably create bad effects as it may become non-existant, or at least traffic will certainly be cut.

tourism is one of the major ways we get money for our city. Unfortunately, there are many tourists that come to nyc and get mugged, pickpocketed or scammed.

Just lots of traffic, nothing too bad. Glad to be getting the money circulating.
