I notice the same people that do this do not wash their hands after touching money!

After you shower in the morning you tuck your clean member into your clean boxers and then put your clean pants on over them.....

Throughout the day you handle door nobs, water fountains, and money to name a few....

Most of all if it is so dirty then how can a partner put it in their mouth?

So why not wash your hands before touching your unit?

Money has got to be one of the dirtiest things. It drives me nuts that they will handle money and then my food. I think it is gross when they don't use gloves anymore to prepare food. What happened to those days? I think everyone should adopt good hand washing habits. Come on people be considerate of others!

I always wash my hands after I use the bathroom. I just can't bring myself to not do so.

But, it is kind of odd that people will criminalize a person for not washing after doing their business, but will go out and handle money and then eat fingerfood---or touch a gas pump and not think anything of it.

Bottom line is this: It's good to wash your hands every so often, but at the same time, coming into contact with a few germs here and there is NOT going to kill you; that is what your immune system is for. And if you don't make it (your immune system) work from time to time, it can get lazy on you. Well, that's putting it in layman's terms, I know, but that's basically what can happen. So, if you want to stay healthy, one of the best things to do is expose yourself to some germs from time to time.

You sound really bright. Questioning society's norms. Now you've got me thinking. I'm glad I just wash my hands all the time. But just rinsing them is of no use. You need to cover them in handwash while they are dry, rub it around, add a little water, lather it up and do a 'handwashing routine' which the hospital staff are given and do it for at least 30secs to have any affect on the germs.

I do it because I hate having dirty hands. I hate shaking people's hands and you can feel they are dirty because they're not conscientious about it. I also hate dirty feet. Especially in bed!

This is a good question though the topic is a bit uncomfortable given the norms of our society.

Given your statements, it really seems that you should wash your hands before peeing because you don't want to add germs to your body.

Dealing with germs, sneezing, coughing, handwashing is not well handled in our society. Science doesn't seem to prevail.

It seems to me that since something like 30% of people who use public restrooms don't wash their hands, that you need to wash your hands after using a restroom in order to protect yourself from e coli, other bacteria and virus. These mostly enter through your mouth and nose. Whenever you chose to wash your hands, you shouldn't touch anything that others touch like sink knobs, stall handles or bathroom doors.

We have been socialized to believe that everything that happens between our belly buttons and our knees is inherently dirty. I think this has more to do with the sexual use of our junk than anything else. We also believe that anything we excrete is inherently bad and poisonous. This belief is certainly not being helped by all the advertisements for anti-bacterial this and anti-germ that.

I've always wondered why I am a scumbag for not washing my hands after touching my penis but I can touch my nose or my elbow willy-nilly and nobody says a word.

Well, aren't you a happy little elf? I suppose that no one knows that you do not wash your hands(well, they do NOW!) and if you are touching your nose and elbows willy-nilly all day and all night I would say you are pressed for time; however, since you are posting this in the Etiquette forum I know you KNOW the real answer..if you do not wash your hands after urinating I am guessing you do not bother to wash your hands after defecating(where ever would you find the time) At least everyone knows about you and can avoid where You've been. Thanks...

You have many a point there in your musings.

My question then would be, how can anyone have oral sex without a prior, thourough washing? The entire human body secretes oils and attracts dirt from its surroundings. Any unwashed body part would taste gross after a long day. Especially areas that are so enclosed.

I met a guy that said he washed his hands before and after he went to the bathroom. Ladies don't really have the same problem since they use tissue.

Thank God.I think oral sex is GROSS!.How can someone even think of .....Anyways it's a matter of hygiene so I support the decision to wash up after peeing to avoid spread of germs and so as to not gross out anyone.
