Would it be ok for a woman to not have kids naturally because she doesn't want her medical problems and chemical imbalance disorders that causes mental illnesses passed on to that child because the mental part is hereditary and she's not sure of the physical part. So she decides to adopt?

Is that ok? What do you think? Oh and she's being treated for her problems and she's normal and everything.

I think that is "smart" and very sacrificial of the person, considering most people do not ponder such realities when they want children; they just roll the dice!

I can understand why a woman wouldn't exactly WANT to have her own kids. Pregnancy and childbirth screws with your horomones so bad that they never exactly go back. I know I haven't been the same. I think it's ok. If the woman is deemed stable and everything, I don't see why she can't adopt.

Anyone that could offer a good home to an adopted child is a saint! Your reasons seem sound and if your condition will not hinder your parenting, then by all means adopt! It's a wonderful choice. Good luck to you!!!

I think that would be a very responsible decision and shows that the person is caring and will be an excellent parent. There are so many children out there in need of a parent like that. I think she should definitely go for it!!

Yes, that's probably her being smart. Depression, for one, is very likely genetic, and pregnancy can often make depression worse.

Yes, it is her decision to do whatever she wants. She just wants to protect her children and not put them through anything she has been through.
