Chav is a derogatory slang term in popular usage throughout the UK. It refers to a subculture stereotype of a person who is uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behaviour. The label is typically, though not exclusively, applied to teenagers and young adults of white working-class or lower-middle class origin. Chav is used for both sexes, where a male chav is sometimes referred to as a chavster and a female as a chavette!
Hope this helps!

CHAV is an abbreviation of "Council House Anti-social Vermin"its unfortunate that anyone would want to be labelled such a thing but unfortunately this is a very common name for someone who is predominately white, lower-class/poor person, who may/may not have criminal records, broken families, be a teenage mum and have no education. People appear to be perceiving this as an achievement in life and it is true that many people feel threatened by a "chav" as they tend to be loud and aggressive towards any one who isn't a "Chav" . i personally feel like i'm a snob, spoilt and should be shot all because i was brought up in a loving family and don't feel the need to wear an white outfit with thick gold earrings and swear at every person i think looks at me in the wrong way.......this is mainly due to the way i'm spoken to by so called "chavs" . Anyone else who isn't a chav ever feel like that?

Chav is a derogatory slang term in the United Kingdom which appeared in mainstream dictionaries in 2005[1][2] .
The term “chav” refers to a subcultural stereotype of people fixated on fashions such as flashy “bling” jewellery (generally gold) along with designer clothing in the Burberry pattern (most famously a now-discontinued baseball cap) and from a variety of other casual and sportswear brands. They often wear tracksuits/shellsuits and 'hoodies'. The Baseball caps usually consist of the MLB Baseball team New York Yankees Musically, chavs tend to like rap, Rave dance, and RnB. Response to the term has ranged from amusement to criticism that it is a new manifestation of classism. The term has also been associated with delinquency, the "ASBO Generation", and "Yob culture".

A 'chav' male tends to be senselessly violent to anybody they meet. Smoking, drinking and having as much sex as possible are all prime occupations of the archtypical male chav. Whilst these pastimes are also present in the female chav, they focus more on having as many kids as possible before 18 whilst the boys try to gain as many ASBOs or Anti-Social Behaviour Orders. Apparently, according to the media they are 'badges of honour' which tells you something about their lifestyle.
Basically, a chav is a fancy word for a bully in my opinion. They should be neutered on the NHS for the good of society. I'll admit I'm prejudiced against them though. Admittedly, a few of them I have met are nice. In groups however, mob mentality sets in and any shred of human deceny flies out of the window.
Hope this answers your question.

As far as I can make out it's someone who dresses in a certain way, like casual/trendy. I associate Chavs with the Burberry check and other name brands, especially sport brands, though I'm no expert!!

Originally (so I am told) a chavie was Romany for a baby, but like some other words it has been corrupted, think gay, it used to mean happy, it now means having a mans organ stuck::::::::::::::::::::: "O" dear best not go there not very "P.C" but you get my drift.
