I go to Connections Academy, which is a "on-line school" but your state has to pass a legislation to make virtual schools an option for your state. With a "on-line school, there is field trips, message boards and "LiveLessons." So the students are talking to other peers, at CA (connections academy) Communication is very important, I hope this helps, you may PM me if you have any other questions :) On-line schools are a lot better then B&M schools, The curriculum is outstanding! You have more one on one teacher time. This is great for studnets who are behind in school.

Im a junior in high school and this year I decided to do online homeschooling. I think maybe you should try on line homeschooling with Penn Foster. [ pennfoster.edu ] Thats what Im doing and then maybe have your son go back for some high school to get some high school experience. Then if it doesnt work out, he could continue with Penn Foster and get a high school diploma from there. Theyre accredited and everything.I am so glad I waited to do online schooling at home to have at least SOME experiences from high school. I think it would be fine. hope everything turns out well for you :]

bridgestone academy Switched on schoolhouse from alpha omega. Beware though if you don't have a laptop you are really constricting your child to a desk which quickly feels like a ball and chain. Homeschooling offers so many freedoms becareful about giving them away. We Used S.O.S. for 3 years and just couldn't bear it anymore just because we were so tied to the computer. My kids begged for books. I guess that was a bonus.

There are tons of online schooling programs. What kind are you looking for? Christian? A school that follows Michigan curriculum, and is therefore accredited by a school board or similar?

I used James Madison, but I think that is only for high school, look into PennFoster, they are good, I am using them for college, but they have school for younger kids too. I loved doing home school, much better than public schools, you actually get your moneys worth with home schooling, and you don't have to fight with teachers and the school board. Good luck.

Why would you want to homeschool? Going to school with other peers can be very important. School can put you in social situations that will make you a stronger person later in life. School has its ups and downs and there are mean and nice people that you will have to deal with, but you have to confront all of those situations, preparing you for the real world. Don't seclude yourself to a computer. I know that your generation is implanted in front of a computer, but trust me, going to school and meeting people face to face is way more important than meeting "people" online. Social interactions are very very important psychologically.

Home schooling is ridiculous. There are plenty of skills learned at school that don't require a text book and can't be done at home. It's called learning how to interact with other people.
