He sounds very selfish, actually. Kind only when it suits him. Otherwise, not at all caring about your feelings or your self-esteem. I'd talk to him about it. Tell him you care about him and would like your relationship to work, but you have self-respect and he must respect you and not put you down, otherwise you will not be able to stay in this relationship. You said you are easy going which is okay so long as you don't become an abused woman who lets this "artiste" walk all over you and define you. Artists can be moody. You can leave him alone at those times; that's okay. But when he is using sarcasm continually towards you, and does not respect your rights or feelings...that is the time to leave and find someone who can treat you well. Good luck.

My sister's boyfriend is the same way. I'm not trying to be blunt but he'll never change. You can't change him. He should treat you better you deserve better. I've told my sister this a million times but you have to make up your mind that your tired of it. Don't waste years on this man and then finally realize that's not what you want to live with forever. goodluck

He is a moody artist, huh? Either just try to avoid him at the bad times, say something (not in an argumentative way), or learn to live with it. My choice? Go out on the nights he's acting mean.

Don't live your life getting and accepting sarcasm and criticism. There are guys out there that will treat you with the respect you deserve. No one deserves this type of behaviour at any time.

All us artist types are that way about our work to some extent...
I mean you pour your heart and soul into a peace and someone who cant do Say's "are you sure it's not upside down"?
makes you want to give then a good hit in the head!
but remember there's a difference between moody and Bi-Polar disorder!

I doubt that he will change. Please do not waste anymore time with this guy. My marriage is ending after 15 years and I think of all the time I have wasted hoping that he would change. Men don't change...I think they get worse. I hope you really consider if you want to stay with this guy...this is the only life you have.

Be sarcastic back. But it depends on how he means it, I am a very scarcastic woman, and have to watch myself so I do not say something wrong. Does he mean it or is it just defense. If you cannot deal with it talk and if you have to break off the relationship, even if it means nothing to him, it can still hurt you.

Well, hit him back occasionally with your own sarcasm to give him a taste of his own BS. If he escalates, then get serious with him and ask him to change his ways or else....
