Most Christians do, but mankind sins, we're not perfect. When you wake up in the morning you're sinning, when you were born, you were born a sinner, it's only through Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven our sins.

Why don't people follow the word/testimony of Yeshuah (Hebrew for Jesus) in order to obey?

Matt. 5:17
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

I know the exact reason why, because people have been deceived by hearsay a testimony given by those who weren't eye witnesses. which also goes against the commandments of Ha Yhvh (The Lord).

Duet. 19:15
...Out of the mouth of two witnesses, or out of the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Thus it would be wise to study the Eye Witness account of Yeshuah first. Then you shall receive understanding for the word is a light unto our path. Yeshuah is the word made flesh.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the word, and the word was with Elohay (God), and the word was Elohay.

Gen. 1:3
And Elohay said let there be light, and there was light.

The eye witnessess in the New Testiment are:

Matthew, John, Peter, and James

Of course Christians sin, as do all other people. But in the verses you selected, Jesus was not telling people to literally cut off their hand or pluck out their eyes. He was saying, that if you are engaging in a sinful behavior, to stop....even though it will hurt. And, I think a lot of Christians (not all) do exactly that. For example, let's say I'm a thief and the only way I know how to support myself is to steal from others. If I'm going to follow Christ, I have to stop stealing even if it means I might not get to eat or pay my rent or whatever.

Jesus often spoke in parables. The verses you mentioned are one example. But also, your question uses verses that are taken out of context. But, the answer is still the same. Peace.

You bring up a good point.

How can Christians sin? It's a very simple question that doesn't ever get a straight answer.

Imagine this... suppose you were a thief, but every second of every day, a police officer watched your every move. Would you try to steal? Of course not... the minute you did, the police officer would beat you silly with his nightstick.

All the same, Christians believe that God is ever-present, watching their every move. Yet they break their own rules every day. Are they not afraid of punishment?
I'm expecting the answer, "God forgives." That's all fine and dandy, but don't in the next breath tell me that atheists don't account for their actions.

Christians are no better than anyone else in this world. We all live in this human body...We make mistakes just like everyone else. But when we line up our lives with the Word of God (Bible)...It shows us how imperfect we really are, and realize that we are in need of a Saviour. Once an individual becomes a Christian by accepting Jesus Christ into his life as Lord and Saviour we now "practice" living and walking in the Word of God. We don' t practice being a sinner...we already have that down pack. But we practice walking in righteousness. Not that we have done anything to make ourselves righteous, but because of our Faith in Jesus Christ we have been made righteous. And because we believe therefore, we practice. Are there times when we're going to fail? Yes of course..as long as we live in this life we're going to make mistakes and fail, but as Christian we get up repent and try not to make the same mistake again and in realizing that God's love is unconditional...and we may do so many things and even turn our backs on Him but He is still there(Faithful even when we're not) and always willing to recieve us back to Him with open arms.... God is changing us from Glory to Glory...Even though our spiritual nature has been changed we must now train or body...When first accepting Christ the change happens inwardly and then spreads outwardly. Speaking for myself and as a Christian there are still issues that I have, and mistakes that i make but I am trust God for strength and wisdom and try not make those same mistakes again...I "strive" to walk as Christ walked. I try to keep my focus on Him and Him alone.

7"Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! 8If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

We do follow these words, if you are trying to make some example by saying the only way to get to heaven is not to sin, I have a dozen verses that show the human condition as being sinful. This verse, in essense shows us that we should have such a disgust for sin that we would be willing to cut off our limbs or pluck out our eyes to rid ourselves of sin. However, Jesus did the ultimate, He hung on a cross so we don't have to.

I think everyone makes mistakes and you have to ask for forgiveness noone is perfect except for God people shouldn't be so judgemental of others and just worry about their own soul salvation. We're all striving to do the same thing and that's to make it in.

It means that humans are sinful and that we should strive to overcome sin. If you keep doing something sinful, you must cut yourself off of what it is. Example, if you don't drink except with certain friends and you know you have to stop (like alcoholic drunk kind of drinking), then you cut yourself off from those friends and get help. I highly doubt he meant to literally cut off a body part since it is more then a body part that causes you to sin.

v. 6 But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

v.10 Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in Heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who in Heaven.

V. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.......

Read the verses before and after.......... he's talking about children.

i have made the same mistake of lumping all christians into a single monolith. Most people that call themselves christian are not really practicing christians. It was simply the way they were raised.

Probably on 5-10% of people that say they are christian are really practicing christians. Most just follow what their minister, bishop, pope, ... says.

Most are just lemmings
