Find an independent agent who can find you a good deal on insurance. Sign up. Make the payments. After two months go back to the same agent, and cancel your insurance by telling him what ever the reason is you don't need it anymore. Sometimes you will get a small refund, other times there is a small penalty for early cancellation. Most policy terms are for 6 months.

Go to the cheapest insurer you can find.
Insure the car for 12 months.

In two months time, cancel the insurance, and they'll issue a refund for the unused time.

unless you already have a car insurance for another vehicle, the minimum you will get is six months, and it is doubtful you will get any refund after 2 months, one year is the minimum, even on monthly pay as you go, and remember, fail to pay for one month and you are breaking the law
