There is a person in the family that, I say, thinks she is better than anyone else. She is always flaunting her car, her money, and the power she has over her husband. Every time there is a Family gathering I get very nervous just being around her. I never let others take control of me or push me around. As a matter of fact, I am usually the first one to tell people off and stand up for the weak ones. I wouldn't let her go as far as pushing me around. I think she knows this. She has seen the damage I do, but for some reason I get extremely nervous and have to stay in the back ground at family gatherings. I need to Know: Is this jealousy?

No way thats not jealousy!! She probably has low self esteem thats why she pushes people around and flaunts her material good to others. Its sad and pitiful really. You seem like you might be intimadated just show her you are not one to be intimidated! Dont stay in the background at family gatherings. If shes tries pushing you around you let her know that you are not one to be messed with! God bless!

It sure sounds like jealousy. For one thing, this woman can not be happy with all her posessions due to the fact she feels the need to tell everyone about them. You shouldn't feel nervous around her for any reason. Just because she has all the things she does, doesn't make her better. You should be the bigger person in all this and try to be civil to her. No one is asking you to be her friend, but seems like you are trying to be the better one here. You shouldn't allow anything to make you nervous about her. Just be yourself and don't let her get to you.

You aren't jealous. You probably only get nervous because you don't want to hear her brag and don't want to tell her off in front of others. You are just tired of her trying to show off and to control everyone around her. When she enters the room you are in, leave and go to other relatives who you feel comfortable with at a family gathering. It sounds like she wants the entire family to be jealous of her. She may just be bragging for her own benefit because every family member has more than she has. She is probably the jealous one who just wants attention.

I have one aunt who is like her and we all try to avoid her. Hahaha!!! Simple as that. It is not jealousy. She is the one who is jealous and that is why she tries to show off her assets, valuables, status so that she feel good at herself that everyone else is lower rank than her. Let her be! She is just acting in such a way to satisfy her own jealousy. She cannot face the fact that someone will be richer than her, smarter than her, whatever.

no, it not jealousy. seems that she has the power to make you feel inferior, and you don't like that feeling. you know you're not - but, when she's around, you are giving her the POWER to do this to you. if this seems like the case to you, once you face it, it's easy, the fear will go away and you don't have to say or do anything to her, but laugh to yourself, saying honey i don't care what you do or say, you cannot push my buttions, because I know what you are doing and you are not worth the effort to let it effect me. hope it works and DON'T let her get to you. enjoy the family gatherings - otherwise, she wins and you DON'T want that, do you? good luck.

It doesn't sound to me as if your jealous...it sounds more like this person is a pain in the --- and you just dint want to deal with her flaunting ways!! And you shouldn't have to!! I mean really girl what's she got for you to be jealous about? A cat.....OK a cats a cat....being able to boss around her husband....????? Um...do you really want to be a dominating B***H? theres nothing to be proud about there!!! And as for money, well anyone who's had to do without it knows that the world doesn't revolve around money......I actually think I'd pity her rather then be jealous of her!!!

All families have one like that. I think you get nervous because you really don't want to cause a major volcanic eruption. Are you questioning if YOU are jealous? No, I don't think you are. Sounds like you are just trying to keep the peace. She is insecure and how sad that she can only measure the value of her life by a price tag...must not be much value to her life otherwise.

No, simply you can not deal with this kind of people, let her show her low selfesteem, she has problems people that are always trying to impress have problems. Just be there and let the others take control of the situation too.

you sound like you just dont like confrontations,,not a bad thing,,its easy to stand up for others and maybe easy to do it for yourself but without anything to actually do when she is there you feel at a loss of how to communicate with her. to me it doesnt sound like jealousy,you know you and she are not the best of friends and she gives you nothing to work with so,,,,just leave it,,we cant like all people.
