I prefer dessert wine b/c it is a little sweeter and doesn't have that dry after taste. I would recommend going to a vineyard and spend an afternoon tasting a variety of wine. Some resturants also have wine tasting nights. People have different taste palets so I think that is the best way to try alot of wine without spending too much and wasting a bottle or two.
I like St. Julian's Blue Heron (Michigan). Also Oliver Winery's Blackberry wine (great in spaghetti), Camelot Mead and Soft White (Indiana). Oliver is much harder to get because Indiana is a wierd state and you can't ship it to certain places.
Good luck!!

Red wines like cabernet sauvignon and merlot that have a medium to light and smooth body taste.

I'm not a wine drinker per se, but I do enjoy a glass of White Zin on occasion.

"Chicken Ranch" Merlot from Trinchero Vineyards. Smooth, and earthy. Very drinkable without being too pricey.
And, everyone who I've suggested it to has loved it. :-)
