No. When you overdraw your account the bank charges you a hefty fee and you have to put the money back. If you do this within 30 days there should be absolutely no problem at all. There WOULD be a problem if you overdrew the account and refused to make good on it, then at some point the bank would close your account and put you into collections and if they ever obtained a judgement then it would show up in public records. Normally, however, it is no real big deal to accidentally overdraw the account. The worst part of it is getting hit with the fees, especially if you write a $20 check which bounces and then get hit with a $30 fee. I hate it when that happens.

Your occasional overdraft will never show up on your credit report. Over the years I have forgotten to enter a few ATM withdrawals into my check register and then bounced a few checks from time to time. This will NOT affect your credit in any adverse way as long as you cover the overdraft as soon as possible. It happens to all of us at one point or another; all it takes is a really good brain fart and then a few days later you get a real thin envelope from the bank in the mail saying, in effect, "HA HA! You messed up and we are charging your account $32 for non-sufficient funds. Tee Hee!"

Whenever I get a thin envelope in the mail from my bank I know I have dicked myself.

no, your bank account does not have anything to do with your credit. Your just ruining your reputation with your bank.
