if you break the one about "not worshipping idols" than people will and do worship statues. If you break the one about "loving your nieghbor as yourself" then we get a bunch of people who forget about neighbors, and elderly, and poor, or lost, and get really egocentric. If we break the commandment to love God with all heart and soul and mind, then we can love anything else with all our might and forget about God. Not that everyone does this.

My thinking exactly. He came to show us how to live, and he lived by obeying the commandments. I do remember the saying about following the first two and the rest would follow.

He didn't, quite the opposite.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

After Christ died on the cross, we became saved by grace. There was no need to follow the law anymore because it was not the Way to salvation. So actions (such as the ten commandments) didn't make it or break it as far as eternal life is concerned.

The New Testament provides guidelines for how to live your life, and uses Christ as an example of how a human can endure many trials and overcome in a Godly manner. I still think the 10 commandments should be followed -- can you imagine if everyone followed them, every day -- our world would not SUCK!

You shall worship the lord your god and him only you shall you serve. The second is
All these things I will give you if you will fall do and worship me
yes it does matter and most people don't think about them but they will help and your chance to be in heaven after death
If your wondering where Jesus said them all at once when he was around twelve years old at the temple teaching the teachers and that part of the book is called

Jesus did no longer overlook the ten commandments.. yet He missed some rules of Moses.. Moses wrote some rules because of the fact the early Jews have been stubborn. Jesus missed the regulation in stoning a girl who's caught committing adultery. Jesus missed revenge. He presented forgiveness. furnish the different cheek.. bear in mind. no longer all OT rules are to be accompanied until eventually immediately... God needs love. no longer all christians do no longer consume beef.. i think of they're baptist christians that don't consume beef.. i do no longer understand why they do no longer consume beef. perchance because of the fact it somewhat is a tapeworm provider.

Hi, Jesus did not say or even mean to imply this, what He did say is that by obeying just two commandments faithfully then you would actually be keeping the rest as a result of the two,if you love God then you will be faithful in all things, if you truly love your neighbour then you will do no wrong to them.

When Christ died, he did away with the Law. By the way, God gave the Israelites more than the 10 commandments; He gave them over 600 laws to follow. "Loving your neighbor as yourself" and "loving God with all your heart" are not part of the 10 commandments". However, Christians are supposed to love God and their neighbors.

I don't know whether Jesus ignored the 10 commandments. But many believers in the Bible don't want to talk about the Old Testament. Some even called Jesus the Lord, and claim that you could have eternal life by believing in Jesus. DO they care about adultery? How about incest?

Jesus never said the Ten Commandments don't matter - they are guidelines for life, and he was the one that gave them to Moses after all.
Your statement says about people breaking them in each case - not God saying they don't matter anymore.
Man is imperfect - look at God, not at man.
Do all you can to follow and love God - God looks at the heart.

They do matter. As Christians, we should strive to keep the ten commandments - we will fail? Of course. We are imperfect. But with Jesus and the Holy Spirit - we can strive to be a real Christians and not to sin. I have a personal relationship with Jesus - who is perfect - and His perfection helps my imperfections. I hope I said that right. Blessings.

He came to fulfill the law, not change it. He never said the 10 commandments were no longer valid. He upheld all the commandments, He is our standard.
