We just put our twins into a daycare two days a week. They are two and 1/2. Well the question is I think it is alot of money to spend when I don't work to have them go to a daycare. they really like being around other children and they need to learn how to share and play with other kids. Any ideas on where or what I could do with them to get them the interaction with other kids without spending the kind of money daycare requires?

i agree that day care can be a waste when u r not working, but i think that two days a week is a great idea. how nice it would be for u to have two whole days to yourself and your children are out and having a good time. take the time to relax and enjoy the quietness. go out and run some errands without having to chase toddlers or worrying about meltdowns in the store.

back to your question other things you can do is to arrange playdates with people u know or maybe one of the kids your kids meets at day care. i used to take my son to chuck e cheese and the park and there he met other children he could play with. kids friendships are different from adults, so this arrangement (meeting new kids, he might never meet again) is fine. they don't need to make lasting friendships right now.

Let them have more interaction with you until they're grown enough to go to school, then their social life will boom. Or before then, keep with the daycare for about a month or so, and then don't do daycare, but by then the kids would've made some freinds so they can set playdates.

I think pre-school is a good idea. I didn't put my oldest in and he had a hard time settling in for kindergarten. (He was sooo excited to see other kids and all the toys.) You could hook up with some other Moms for playgroups if you want that kind of interaction. I think a pre-school setting can help with the routines of school.

Set up "play dates" with friends, family and neighbors of children around the same age as yours.
