will this waste my camera or can it acclimatise to the condtions?

I've used both film cameras and digital cameras in Tropical World in Leeds without any problems. It's a little humid in parts, but not enough to cause problems.

you can get a water proof case (well I can for the ixus 30(small compact) I kind of think your talking about one that looks like the slr cameras) anyway there very good.
when changing extreem temps give the camera time to adjust dont open battery and memory card slots that could let damp in untill the camera has returned to normal temp be prepaired for the camera to do unexpected things

Butterfly centres are normally warm and dry so you should have no problems IF the camera is as warm as the centre. If it has got cold dew might form on it so be careful.
