One of the fastest ways to make sure that your hair gets (and stays) soft and shiny is to make sure that it gets everything it needs. Your hair needs protein, nourishment (vitamins) and moisture.

Protein: Go to a salon and get Brocato, Cloud Nine, Miracle Repair Treatment (it is only available at select salons, so make sure you call first. Despite that pretentiousness, it is very inexpensive).

Nourishment: This is what you eat--believe it or not, your entire strand of hair can change within a couple of months if you make sure that you eat right.

Moisture: Contrary to popular belief, most of the 'silkeners' will coat the hair shaft, sealing it. They are fabulous if you have already moisturized your hair, but for a moisturizer alone, they don't work well. I like Redken All Soft or Redken Smooth Down as conditioners--available at salons and some grocery stores. After you condition, you also want to apply a leave in conditioner, live Potion 9 or something else that can also 'repair' while it's in (use any leave in sparingly). And if you heat style, apply a silkener (live Biosilk or Silky Sexy Hair) last (also sparingly).

This may sound like a lot of maintenance, but it becomes second nature; not nearly as much of a pain as it sounds like. Most of the conditioning is done in the shower anyway--do your hair first and let the conditioner sit while you're showering. And at first, you feel like you're spoiling yourself, and by the time it would normally get old, you're down to just a couple of minutes dedication.

I saw a lot of natural remedies on here, and they are all great. My philosophy: Chemically treated hair=chemicals to heal hair
Natural hair=natural remedies. If you are looking to save money and have natural hair which you don't heat style regularly, they are fantastic. I personally don't use them because I hate the smells, and I have chemically treated hair.

Try Herbal Essences new Hair line for shampoo and conditioners they are great. Also try using a serum for shine like john freida, or other lines there are plenty out there.

Here is a good conditioning treatment that I love.

Honey Conditioning Treatment(Great for Curly/Frizzy Hair)

Mix 1/2 Pure Honey with 1/4 cup olive oil or almond oil. Use 2
tablespoons for normal to oily hair. Using a small amount at a time,
work mixture through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap
and leave on 30 minutes. Shampoo well and rinse; dry as usual

Hey there!!
here are some tips you can try at home!! :-)
Mix a few drops of castor oil to olive oil and apply it on your hair, then do a hot towel treatment (ie wrap a hot towel around yr hair like a turban, leave it on till it's cooler). Then shampoo yr hair (preferably with a herbal shampoo - in India we get something called Shikakai or Soapnut which does wonders for your hair). After shampooing, use a wash made of cider vinegar and cold water or my favourite (which also gives a little bit of interesting color to yr hair - steep regular tea leaves in hot water for at least an hr, after it cools - squeeze the juice of an entire lemon in it.)- wash with cold water and towel dry.
On weekends, you can try out a hairpack to soften your hair - mash banana(s) and mix a tbsp of honey to it, add some olive oil and if you prefer, add either an egg or some plain yoghurt. Let this sit on yr hair for at least half an hr and then shampoo thoroughly and use a cold water rinse.
Remember to avoid using hairdryers too often because that causes further dryness.
For a quick fix, try the L'oreal salon treatment shampoos and conditioning serums - you can get them for different hair types and they do make a difference!!

BEST OF LUCK!!

Once every two weeks, between your shampoo and conditioning, rinse your hair with organic red cider vinegar. Leave it on for about 2 minutes, rinse your hair with cool water, and then condition as usual. The smell will go away in a short time, I promise. The stuff works great and is relatively inexpensive. I also use it as a toner (with 2 aspirin crushed up in it). It's one of the best beauty products out there!

Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky followed by an conditioner. Once a week, use 100% pure coconut oil in your hair and scalp, yeah give it a self massage. Then leave it overnight for best resutls, wrap a extra towel on your pillow so you wont get the pillow dirty. Or else, if you cant take it so long to wait for, then wait for an hour.

Well-groomed hair enhances your appearance. Everyone wants beautiful and shiny hair. Different types of hair need different types of treatments. Here we offer some tips to give your hair shiny appearance.

Fine Hair: Use a shampoo with wheat proteins and polymers. These ingredients cover the hair shaft, making it appear thick. Use spray volumizers. They coat your hair with a thin mist of droplets without causing your hair to droop.

Normal Hair: Use a shampoo containing silk amino acids. These acids make the hair soft and repair the damaged hair structure. Lecithin is vital for restoring hair texture. Gels and creams make hair shine. Put a small amount of the product on your palm, rub the hands together and pat lightly on the hair

There are some advanced shampoos that condition and make your hair shiny. Swave is one inexpensive shampoo. Also. some home remedies can help, also....Eggs washed in to the hair.

Also, there is a vitamin used for the hair: Biotin, 5000 mcg, take one per day. Biotin is a B-vitamin. It is used for the Hair, nails and skin. I have seen dramatic results in my female friend's hair and nails.

Do not wash your hair too often as the Natural oils in your hair will not have a chance to prevent dryness.

Using a hair dryer can make the hair dry and reduce the shine.

Try it out....Good Luck....chow

These aren't new, but they work. One-Baby Oil let it stay inyour hair overnight and then shampoo out as normal. Two-Olive oil is good overnight too and then shampoo Three-Mayo works very well but smells funky and you should only keep in for about 30 minutes at the most. or you could buy some Biosilk Silk Therapy it smells good, and does the trick.

Not only will this help make your hair look beautiful and shiny, but it will also help keep your body healthier...try using EVOO(extra virgin olive oil) in your cooking instead of other oils. It gives your hair a smooth shiny sleek look. You can also oil your hair with EVOO and leave it in for a night and then wash it out the next morning. You will love the effects EVOO has on your hair and your whole body! Enjoy

eh...
first, wash your hair daily, with shampoo and conditioner! (better still, those shampoos which already contain conditioner -- less hassle!) Then, dry your hair with a towel, and apply about half a teaspoon of moisturiser on the ends of your hair (avoid the scalp!), then comb through! Let the moisturiser set in for a couple of minutes before you blow-dry your hair with the hairdryer. :) Good luck!
