Thinking is the best way to travel. You can imagine you are in different places, times, even universes. Some people consider this to be astral travel, and they occupy an astral plane.
The Moody Blues had fun with this idea in the song "Legend Of A Mind." Listen to it.

I know exactly what Astral travel is, that is why i would never do it
It is when you open yourself us to a supernatural entity and allow it to connect with your soul (your inner self) There is no true scientific way to explain this, because it is not scientific, or biological, it is Spiritual and Very VERY dangerous.
Why is it Dangerous?
Because the only type of spirit that is interested in helping you seek an out-of-Body experience is a demonic spirit. (God has done this to his saints in the bible, but mostly its deceptive spirits that wnat to help you do this)
As God said in his word "we are a temple..." our bodys are a temple, a house if you like. And we must be careful who we invite in. The best spiritual connection you can have is with the precious Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. He loves you
