It hasn't helped me at all. I had a Gore-Tex parka jacket once, but sold it years ago. Gore-Tex doesn't actually breathe well enough for heavy activity and you're likely to end up wet inside your jacket from sweat. Same goes for Gore-Tex shoes.
For three season hiking in the Sierras and beyond I only require a lightly coated windbreaker jacket, windbreaker pants, and a lightweight umbrella. For emergency use, if there's too much wind for the umbrella, I bring a large black garbage bag for use as a poncho. When I expect cold or on cold day hikes I bring a Primaloft puffy vest.
Hiked around Yosemite Valley last winter during a snow storm all day in windbreaker, umbrella, regular nylon pants, the vest, light hiking shoes, thick socks, VBL booties, mittens, and fleece hat.

Definitely playing basketball and also running at the park. There is something calming about running in the park with nothing but nature around you, a person can get alot of thinking done that way.

Because it was the first truly waterproof, breathable fabric invented... Gore-Tex is extremely thin, light weight, strong and durable.... also, the pores will not clog ...they're too small for grains of salt, mud, or dust...
Gore-Tex ROCKS!!!

Jackets need not be the thick, bulky clothing it was in the past and with the ability to retain heat and wick away the sweat, better comfort for the owner
