It is not the mouth, nor mind, for in Scripture it says...

Rom 8:5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

The Spirit gives us gifts that the mind uses for good, if these gifts are ignored, then bad, evil comes from the mind.

Mat 15:18 "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.

Mar 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,

1Co 12:8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,

The Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts (pay paticular attention to 2Co 1:22, Rom 5:5, 2Co 3:3 and Gal 4:6)...

Mat 13:19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.

Mat 15:8 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.

Mar 11:23 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.

2Co 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,
2Co 1:22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

Rom 5:3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;
Rom 5:4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;
Rom 5:5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

2Co 3:3 being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Gal 4:6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

Eph 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
Eph 3:15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
Eph 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
Eph 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
Eph 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Rom 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

The Spirit or Soul

This is described as having no mass, no wave-length,no energy and no time or location in space except by consideration or postulate.
The spirit is not a "thing". It is the "creator" of things.
The usual residence of the soul, (spirit, awareness of awareness unit....YOU) is in the skull or near the body.
YOU are your own immortal soul.
The soul can be in one of four conditions.
1. Entirely separate from a body or bodies.
2. Near a body and knowingly controlling the body.
3. In the body (the skull).
4. An inverted condition, compulsively away from the body and unable to approach it.

There are degrees of each of the above 4 conditions.
The most optimum of these from the standpoint of man, is the second.

The Mind
This is a communication and control system between the spirit and it's (his) environment.
The mind is a network of communications and pictures, energies and masses, which are brought into being by the activities and interactions of the spirit with the Physical Universe and other spirits/individuals.
These activities include the operating of a body and the solving
of problems related to survival and existence.
The mind has 2 Parts:
The Analytical Mind. The keynote of this mind is awareness. One knows what one is concluding and knows what one is doing.
The Reactive Mind. This is a stimulus response mechanism.
This mind acts below the level of consciousness. It never stops operating unlike the Analytical Mind which can be less aware or even completely unconscious.

The Body
A carbon/oxygen biological engine. This can best be studied in such books as "Grey's Anatomy" and other anatomical texts.

I don't think it is in the body. The only spirit I know is the automobile known as the Dodge Spirit. This is not a slur, an epithet, chatting, personal communication, or not an answer. I sure hope I don't get a false report by a religious person who doesn't like the Dodge Spirit.

Well, it depends. Spirit is used in different ways in scripture. For instance, Psalm 146:4 teaches that, as our life force, when the person dies, his spirit goes out. Thus, this spirit, or life-force, resides everywhere in the body and when we die, it simply is no more.

There is another spirit that refers to our mental disposition. Thus, at Ephesians 2:2, the apostle Paul speaks of the spirit that operates in the sons of disobedience. Or Ephesians 4:22 and 23 where Paul admonishes us to put on the new personality and to continue to be made new in the force (or spirit) actuating our minds.

When a man is born again, the spirit of God lives in the heart of a man. Yet, the spirit of a man does not reside in the man, but in the stomach. I can't recall the scripture that reveals this, but it is in the OT.

So understand when you get a gut feeling, it might be a good idea to listen to it.

The soul and the spirit are two different things. It is not uncommon for people to think they are the same but that is just not true. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." There are at least two kinds of spirit involved within us. One is the life force which we replenish through breathing. The other is our motivating attitude and it is contagious. It has the power to influence others. The word, “spirit”, is used approximately seven different ways in the Bible. The basic meaning of the word, ‘spirit’, is: something invisible evidenced by its force (the results it produces). That is an interesting subject.

When people report out of body experiences they often say their spirit is linked by a cord of spiritual energy to their solar plexus so either it resides there or in the brain.

I think it resides in our mind's consciousness. When the mind goes, the spirit goes.

Let me explain it like this, the Holy Spirit is the very attitude of God.
You can't put your finger on it but the presence of it is known.
Our spirit is our attitude, that is why we should always check out our attitude and make sure we are in the right one.
How do w know if we have the right one?By knowing Gods attitude and lining up with it.

Good question. I don't know. Maybe the brain. The word spirit is a very broad term it can even denote the intellect.
