In this hypothetical world, only one can be saved, who?

That’s a tough question since both are iconic figures who contributed so much to the betterment of humanity. I suppose I would save Gandhi because his vision was far broader in scope than Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. inspired the civil rights movement in this country, but Gandhi compelled the act of civil disobedience around the world. If you look around the globe, at any group, in any country, where civil obedience is practiced, outside of the United States, they will always cite Gandhi as their primary example and inspiration.

Damn, I thought you said Martin Luther for a second there.

I'm not sure I can answer, I have a large amount of respect for both of them but as they haven't really made a direct impact in my life (on an indirect) I don't see that either of them would be more important than the other.

I would probably help Ghandi as, being old, he'd have less chance of pulling himself back up. I'm not sure if Martin Luther King would see the nobility in helping the old or the stupidity of not helping someone with more life ahead of them though.

Gandhi, because Martin Luther would already be saved, and done most of his work here on earth.

Gandhi's deep appreciation could result in his turning to Christ which would yield a potentially massive influence on all his followers that they too might come to know Christ. As Gandhi once said something like "i like the concept of Jesus, but i dont like them Christians" Perhaps saving him, would cause him to change his mind about Jesus, and Christianity

Gandhi's influence is massive. If he had of come to Christ, think of all the millions of souls that would be saved.

Wow. It's difficult to make such a choice, even in theory.

On the one hand, Gandhi was an unbeliever and MLK, Jr. was a believer; so if I let MLK die, at least I am assured he's gone to a better place and I have a chance to preach the gospel to Gandhi.

On the other hand, MLH's life touched so very many people and it would be natural to assume his good works would have gone on had he not been assassinated.

Both are human beings that I love, so I'd naturally want to save them both, regardless of what they believe, or who they are.

In all honesty, I'd probably save the one that was "safest" for me to do. In other words, if Gandhi only needed a quick hand up, but MLK would be a dangerous one to save, selfish human nature would cause me to choose Gandhi.

Isn't this the way evangelism works, too? Human nature causes us to approach the one who looks more "open" to Jesus' message, and avoid the one who appears "closed" to it. But who are we to choose? We must go to them both, so they may be saved.

Peace.

Tough choice. I think Martin Luther King, because in the short time he was on this Earth, he was able to do so much. Imagine what he could have done had he lived longer!

I will answer Martin Luther King, because he is a Christian. There are more Christians than Hindus on this site. Therefore I will have a lesser chance of receiving a false violation email report.

Both were great men who refused the choices handed them, and created their own solutions. They fought for the dignity of mankind.

I would ask them. They would point at each other and say "Save him!" So I would try to save them both.

Whatever the cost to the 3 of us, I would accept it.

Trick question. What is the point? This question sounds like trap. Besides how can someone save them when they are both dead?
