No particular cause from what i understand. One can have operations to remove them, or you can try to pluck them yourself. On your legs it shouldn't be too painful.

Hi.

Usually, people get black lumps due to sebum deposits in the pore. it isn't dirt, so don't worry about that. get a body wash with salycilic acid to deep cleanse and remove sebum. however, sometimes it's also caused by folicilitis (acute ingrown hairs) for which there is no real cure. maybe it's hormonal, how old are you? teens are more prone to breakouts on their bodies so it could be a phase you're going through. there are many cool sites on skincare on the net but if it gets worse, see a dermatologist.

I think it is just because of the ingrown hair. You may have just hit it unknowing and got a bump. But it should be okay. It may have been a pulled hair.

For many years I have used a scrub brush in the shower for nearly every inch of my body.
Now mine is very stiff, this helps to remove all of the old dead skin and clear up any potential bumps or ingrown anything.

Give it a try. You just need to find the stiffest brush that feels good to you. It makes your skin tingle and feels great.

I really don't mean to be rude about your mom's diagnosis; you might wish to see a dermatologist as it could be something other than ingrown hairs. Good luck.

cause - usually shaving - the hair pops back under the folicle and gets crooked and cant get out.
you can get lotions to apply after epilation to reduce them
if you are very prone, you may have to change your hair removal method

they are kind of like ingrown hairs. its from your pants rubbing on your legs all day. try wearing short shorts to bed everynight and put lotion on it everyday.
