a headache, should i take him to the er? what symptoms should i look for? he doesnt have a knot on his head

that is a cosideration, because its always something with him, but my sister in law said they had to help him up and her was really dizzy after it happened but he seemed fine last night

I am an EMT. If your son does NOT have a knot on his head, that could be a bad sign indicating swelling into the head instead of outwards of the head. I would take him to ER, they may run a CAT scan or MRI. I would not play with this. He could have a brain bleed. look for lethargy(just lazing around), possible nausea or vomiting, your R the mom, if he is not himself or just isn't acting rite 2 U, U should take him.

Liam Neeson's wife hit her head when they were skiing and ignored, and made everyone else ignore, the minor pain. Once she finally agreed to go to the hospital it was too late, and she died. My mom on the other hand, fell down a flight of stairs and had a huge bump. When she finally decided to go to the hospital, the doctors soon told her she almost died and she most definitely would have died if we didn't bring her in sooner. You have to be extremely cautious with your head because inside that head is your brain. And it's extremely sensitive. I'd highly recommend going into the E.R. or urgent care.

If your son is showing signs that resemble flu-like symptom...with out the fever!...Such as: headache, dizziness, sudden falls, stomach ache, blurred vision, bleeding from the ears or nose, nausea...he may be suffering from the effects of a concussion. This is serious and he needs to be seen ASAP!
Concussions...to make it simple...think of a balloon in a box...then smack the box on one side...this forces the balloon to the other side of the box....the same thing occurs with the brain in the scull...this can cause bruising of the brain, hence the signs and symptoms....also look for signs of shock...weak rapid pulse, shallow breathing, cold, clammy skin...these could be a sign of potential internal bleeding.
Don't wait...go to the ER.

A subdural hematoma is always a concern with children suffering a head trauma. I saw a 7 month old die from one, so I'm very sensitive to the risk. If he is headachy, lethargic, vomiting, or any other flu-like symptoms, I'd definitely take him to the doctor today...or the ER if you can't get into your general practitioner.

Never put someone to sleep after they have just hit there head! NEVER! Look for uneven pupils or some liquid leking from his ears. If anything like that is present, Take him to the Doctor!
Keep him awake for a while now and give him some Tylonol. Childrens Tylonol that is!

Dizziness, nausea, vomiting,drowsiness are all things associated with head injuries. Loss of consciousness, difficulty speaking or moving can indicate bleeding. Might want to take him in just to be safe.

he could have a little bit of concusion. I would ring the doctors or the hospital help line they will ask u questions on how he is feeling and they will tell u what to do or if they need to see him. If he is sleepy I would take him to be checked out as u should not let him go to sleep if he has concusion.

Probobly has a slight concusion. Monitor his headache and if he gets real sleepy or has nausea and vomiting then I would think about seeing a doctor.

usually if any head injury occurs the person should be under observation for twenty four hours,to exclude wether there's any internal injuries you can asses that by his/her level of consciousness or any change in his/her behavior esp.sleeping,eating and concentration and recognition.if the child will vomit persistently you should seek medical advise
