I think all of the classic Bose insults have been covered so I'll leave that alone. They usually have a range of 40hz - 13khz or so with the lowest frequency depending on which speakers you are talking about. Also, the Accoustimass systems generall have a lack of coverage in the 200-300hz range. Basically, they're not worth the money. I think everyone forgot to mention "yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices" Bose is still using paper drivers, they don't have tweeters, and they really haven't changed anything in years. I believe the reason that people like them so much is "perceived clarity" because their frequency response isn't very good they seem less noisy to some people and so the appear to be clearer, but this is just a guess based on 3 years at Best Buy selling the stuff, I could be wrong. Then ofcourse there is the advertising, they advertise and they have Paul Harvey. How could any baby boomer not trust Paul Harvey? I hope this answers your question, and now you know the rest of the story. Good Day!

Bose Speakers are very commercialized, Over Priced, and the sound isn't good. If you are looking into good quality sounds, you really should invest the money for an AV Receiver (such as Yamaha) and use speakers such as B&W. I am sure you would get better sound than Bose. Or if you have even more extra money to spare, get a proper home theather system, a proper pre-amp, power amp, and speakers.
Bose however has its good side which is it integrates DVD-Player, Amplifier, and almost everything you need for a home theater into one system. And the speaker size is really SMALL. It is good for applications in places where space is an issue (small sized rooms)
Bose has always failed to satisfy my ears.
Real pros dont play with bose.

i recently traded up from a bose am7 system to Def Tech towers and center channel...never knew what i was missing. i still use bose as my surrounds, but have heard DT's surrounds and they are amazing. i think Bose are decent for what they are trying to accomplish...tiny cubes for limited space...but overall they lack the punch that other speakers have. i think the array of all full ranger drivers will never sound as good as separate tweeters and mids...if size is a factor, look into the Polk or Infinity minis...better overall clarity and MUCH less expensive

When someone speaks Home Theater to me and they mention the word "Bose" I know right away they know nothing about speakers. When it comes to HT, Bose can't compete with the big boys. Therefore, if you're looking for awesome speakers, take a look at Paradigm, Definitive Technology, and/or Monitor Audio just to name a few. For the record, "Bose" SUCKS big time.
