I'd like to know how many of you practice your religion because you think if you dont you will burn in eternal hell, or that bad things will come of you?
*Im not looking for quotes from the Bible or the Quran or any other religious teaching.
I want your own words on WHY YOU practice the religion you do, serious answers please?

Thank you all who have answered and who may still answer. I am surprised I didnt get many Muslim followers answer as I wanted to hear what they had to say.. If someone is an avid follower of teachings then they should be able to answer without hesitation.

I don't practice in a specific religion, I go to a non-denomination church. What I do practice is my faith in Jesus Christ by doing the right thing like help my fellow man, I am thankful for all the blessings that I have been given from God, I don't judge people, and I read the Bible daily. I am not motivated by "burning in Hell" although I do believe that happens, I try to stay on the more positive side because I have seen the change in my life since turning to God.

OK here goes. I believe that my human nature, just me the way I was genetically made up is vary sinful ,or bad. I'm not preaching I've met some truly good natured people. When I was younger I was a wild in the flesh animal. When I was over seas I did things I could go to prison for the rest of my life for , that were legal over there but morally vary wrong. I saw allot of other guys that were just as bad. I always felt evil or dirty but other forces like hormones or control things took over. When I was 30 I had a need I couldn't explain then to go to church. For me it was church other people go to Temple what ever you want to call it.

A believer doesn't really "practice" a religion. A believer "lives" his life based upon a religion. Personally I'm not at all afraid of bad things, rather I delight in the good things life brings. We are put here to live and learn, and our beliefs guide us through all we do. To be afraid of anything would be a waste of time.

I don't practice Christianity because of fear. I practice because of LOVE. The love I have for God, the love and patience that God has shown me, the love I have for people (saved or not! My own husband is NOT a Christian!)...
I don't care if I'm wrong, and there's nothing after death. I have lost nothing, because I will have lived my life with love, and trying to help others. I can at least die content, either way.

"Practicing" christians! What does that mean realy? That's just poeple 'doing it their way', when infact they need to stop 'practicing' and give over to the Lord and let him do it HIS way. To 'Repent' meens to turn around....to go the opposite way from what you've been going....in other words, stop trying to MAKE it happen and just LET it happen. Offcourse then you need to be Baptised (fully emersed in water). Sprinkling babies is not in the Bible. That was made up by mainstream religion.

Well to be honest, I originally came to Christ for "fire insurance"--I did NOT want to go to Hell.
Only after did I realize that Christ has given us so much more than just a way to escape Hell, He has given us peace, love, and understanding, and so much more than this world can offer. So now, I live to tell others.

I practice Buddhism because I see it as a means to living a more fulfilling life. Metaphysics or the hereafter don't concern me.

I practise religion (I'm a Christian by the way) because I love the fact that Jesus Christ suffered and died for my sins and the only way to repay him is by loving him back, that's all he asks of us. He's a marvelous man, I owe my life to him.

I bet there's a high percentage of them that are. I think many have had that fear instilled in them from a very early age. That's what religion is all about, control through fear.
