As you know we use NaCl(salt)usually and hence Na+ is becoming one factor behind Hyper Tension. You can change over to other salts like KCl(Pot. Chloride) which is advised by Ayurveda(called Induppu).
Ayurvedics have in their pharmacopoeia the use of Rocksalt or Induppu. The more advanced. complex salts like Pooneer, Jayaneer, Amuri etc. are not seen in normal usage.
Your daily minimum requirement of Sodium is essential,so you should not completely avoid normal salt.

You need to use herbs and spices in your cooking to enhance the flavours. What you will find is the less salt you have the less you will actually miss it. Its like caffiene, when you stop drinking it your body gets a shock but then realises you are doing it a favour. Give it a month and you wont even notice the difference.

"salt substitute" is potassium chloride. It tastes like salt but doesn't effect your blood pressure. many companies make it including "Morton Salt Substitute"

It has health benefits, but SOY SAUCE IS DANGEROUSLY HIGH IN SODIUM (SALT) even for folks not on a low-salt diet.

use herbs to make your food more interesting.
we eat too much salt in our diet without knowing. any thing we eat has some salts in it. so practically when we add salt we are taking extra salt.

Potassium chloride is said to be substitute. I have seen elders in my family who were having high BP use this. They used to get it from the local indigenous medicine shops. (Its called "Induppu")
