Because companies like Heinz are now more conscious of what they out in products like Baked beans so they have taken out a lot of the bad things like sugar and salt, but sadly they are the things that make them taste so good. Try adding a small knob of butter to them while you heat them in the pan and a few drops of Worcestershire sauce - sounds weird, but really delicious!

They changed the recipe recently, for the first time in decades, in response to competition. Sounds like they did a pretty bad job of it :-)
Supposedly in blind tests, most people liked another well known brand, sending Heinz into a bit of a panic. Shame.

Yes i agree, they don't taste anything like they used to, and have you also noticed Hovis does'nt taste or even look like it used to. It used to be gorgeous with a bit of best butter.

i hate heinz beans, they never taste nice to me, i pref the cheaper brands eg HP

I agree with you, they're not the same, come to think of it a lot of things dont taste like they used to, maybe it's us! Maybe our taste buds are knackered.

cuz u've grown up! i used to love them when i was younger now i can take them or leave them im not bothered!
something to do with ur tastes changing as you get older (and all that jazz)

I think it's beacuse there is now far less salt in them.
I think they are just as good, and better for your health.
