Hiya Pretty Helen,
Sorry to be the one to tell you this but excessive dog licking is through boredom, or obsessive behaviour, you need to get him out of this habit by more exercise, tell him No when he is going ott, and push him away, distract him in anyway you can. he will end up having horrid brown patches where he is constantly licking (not on the human though.. ha,ha) he might even have an allergy problem, get him to the vets just to make sure, wish you luck hun..... :-)

unfortunately this is hard to break. licking in dogs, especially of the face, is a sign of submission -- in dog language, your dog is letting you know that you are in charge. this is common in dogs, especially puppies, because submission is an important social aspect of pack animals. do not yell at your dog or threaten him with punishment for licking, as these are signs of your dominance, and he will only respond to these assertions with more submission (more licking, instead of less). instead, the grabbing his tongue or blowing in his eyes that others have suggested is a slightly better idea -- if licking you is *annoying* to him without being threatening, he might lick less. it is unlikely that this will stop him entirely.
but, if your dog is young, he will probably grow out of it. give it time and try not to yell or get angry. push him away when he licks you. if you begin petting him and he licks you, stop petting him. these things will associate receiving affection and not licking in your dog's mind, which will also encourage him to lick you less.
don't expect your dog to stop licking entirely, though. licking is a personality trait in dogs. some dogs lick a lot. others hardly lick at all. some breeds lick more than others. if you can't deal with a dog that licks you at all... think about giving your dog up for adoption, and try a cat instead.

Ask a qualified vet why dogs do this?
They are such loving creatures.
Years ago they used to say if a dog licks your sores there is something healing in their saliva.
Check it out with a vet!
Take care and look after your faithful friend!

Say NO! and push the dog away and ignore him. When he is sitting quietly go up to him tell him Good Boy and stroke him. If he then goes to lick go back and say NO! again as before. It will take time but eventually he will get the idea you don't want him to do that.

you need to train your dog not to jump up,these things are the owners fault not the dogs.
You must train your dog to sit and stay sitted until you say other wise, jumping is just a way that the dog gets attention.
If it gets in your face then you will eventually give it attention.
If need be,take your dog to obedience lessons

You should be happy that your dog is trying to groom you and give you affection. I love it when my dog licks my face.. though she hardly ever does. My nan's dog does though. It's good to have a relationship like that with your dog - you should appreciate it.

Past experience has told me that when this happens he feels insecure & wishes you to know that he feels safe with you unless of course he/she is coming onto heat or the perfume you are wearing is to his liking.
