I bought a 66' bug that had a bad motor. A valve went through the piston so, I purchased new piston and cylinders from several different sourcse all for a 1300cc motor. The cylinders match what I have and the pistons go in the cylinders but the wrist pins are different! The wrist pins on my motor are smaller than the one's that came with one of the pistons I bought. Another vendor sent me a piston with two wrist pins but both pins are smaller then the opening on the piston but do fit the rods on the motor! What size wrist pins should I have for a 1300cc or/and 1200cc motor?

I believe the bore is the same, but if you manage to fit different size wrist pins, you are going to throw the balance off . I cant tell you the exact size of the wrist pins for either motor, but obviously the 1200 has smaller pins. Your best bet is to purchase a new set of pistons and cylinders not just one at a time. 1966 bugs came with a 1300 motor. If the bottom end has not been changed at all.The new set of pistons and cylinders should fit with no problems. I hope that helps some

So, I'm confused are you trying to use 1200cc pistons in your 1300cc motor? The bore is the same size(77mm), but other than that I don't believe they're compatible. What vendor did you order them from?

Possibly the engine has been "bored and stroked" and everything in the engine is "oversized"! You're going to have to mic things up and caliper the cylinder bore to see what exactly it is you are dealing with.
