Only foster or adopt if you expect nothing in return! Children in the foster system come from trouble backgrounds, neglect, abusive and sometimes have been sexually molested. I fostered 2 children and adopted them both from DCFS-----The boy is now almost 20---he ran away from our home right after he turned 18 and is now residing with his birth MOM (sexual abuse and molestation and incest were prevalent in this home) My adoptive son has been diagnosed as a sexual predator---and this woman let him into her home and has him sleeping in the same room as her 14 yr old son-----

Adoptive daughter is now 15---Attachment disordered---hates me (I'm the MOM figure) manipulates, lies, steals, and has just gotten off of a years probation from stealing a car and joy riding---She's rude, angry--hateful---(I'm the one that has adopted her)

Expect nothing---from your ideas to foster and idea---that way you won't be disappointed!

Yes, you should go ahead with it. That's such a wonderful thing to do, foster children. My sister has a foster child.

I think that's great you want to give back. I have 2 adopted children who both came in as foster children. Do either foster or adopt - they're both great!

I do not believe this would be wise for you or the child you are speaking about as having a similar background to your own. You must move on and succeed on your own as well as come to terms with your past in order to build any type of positive future for yourself or an innocent third party.
