Spaying can be done early. If you are planning not to breed your dog at all, it is better to get her spayed before her first heat cycle. The chances for mammary cancer later in life goes up with every cycle. You reduce her chances to 0.5% by having her spayed before her first heat. After her first cycle, her chances reduce to 8% , and after maturity, her chances stay the same as not being spayed at all. All vets are different, so talk to your doctor....but this is the protocol I suggest.

A female puppy can be spayed at any age. There is no evidence that spaying early causes any problems. The only exception to this is in very tiny breeds where the small size causes complications.

You can choose to have your dog spayed before or after her first season. This will happen between 6 and 9 months. Many breeders will tell you the old wives tale that your ***** MUST have a season before you spay. This has been disproven by research. If you have your dog spayed before her season then you will massively reduce her risk of mammary tumours later in life.

Hi most vets like them to have a season first so that they are fully developed come the time of being spayed & that can be from around 6 months onwards...this also allows your pet to be a little older, bigger & stronger than having them done too early....Regards Jake

Some vets will do at 3 months, but I prefer to wait until puppies are 6 mths old.
