I wouldn't. 7 year olds have no reason to know this information--and don't worry, even if your 7 year old is sexually active, they aren't reproductive yet. I would save that conversation until they reach about 12. If you must explain it, I would buy a condom and use a banana and demonstrate how it is put on and explain what it's for.

first, why he asks such a question?Did he see the one somewhere in the house or at store?did somebody say something?
1- It is possible that he/she knows about the birds and bees from a friend or a TV scene,... then you have to be honest. If not he will never ask you such questions as he thinks you are not honest to him.
2- If he only saw the box of it or one some where: you can say it is a kind of protection from diseases or water when there is a caught on the skin.( There is a smaller thing like a condom which is used to prevent water contact when your finger hurts). He will not continue.

explain very little, telling about the birds and bees to a 7 year old, is different then to say an 11 or 12 year old, they have books on this stuff, on what to tell at what age, at 7 when you get past they mommy and daddy kiss part they are usally discusted, say something simple like daddys use it to cover themself up down there, when they are bigger, maybe he wont ask anymore after that good luck

Other than explaining about getting pregnant, you have to explain venereal diseases. Wait 6 more years would be more appropriate.
