Hello I'm from in Hong Kong.

We have a similar examination system as in the UK; we take the a-level after completing the cert exam.

I hear people saying that it's much easier to get higher grades in the GCE A-LEVEL when compared to HK's. In HK, most AL subjects allow 2% grade As (for English, that's 0.6%), while some AS subjects don't even give out As & Bs...

Is it much easier to achieve good grades in the GCE? Are there any statistics concerning this? THZ!

Or should I say...the paper itself is not easy but the exam board is too lenient in giving higher grades? like 20-30 % As?

Does anyone have some data?

it depends on how you look at examinations. many people find them easy but if you take a section of many british a-level students alot will find them really difficult and there is a high faliure and drop out rate in many of the subjects especcially more accademic subjects such as sciences and math as well as english. it will also depend on howmany you take which is obvious i guess but takeing 4 a-levels will be much more difficult than 1.

It is not the case that a levels are getting easier. I got an 'A' 'B' and 'C' and i had to work hard over the whole year to achieve this. i was lucky enough to attend Richard Huish College which is a council funded sixth form college. The only way in which it is easier is that it's not solely a case of doing well in the exams at the end of the year to achieve a full A-Level nowadays it is necessary to complete and pass all four exam periods. I find it extremely inconsiderate when people say that they are getting easier. Surely just because more people pass the exams it means that teaching has in fact improved or that there is simply more motivation to do well. Teachers are told to encourage students and to use newer and better teaching methods, in my opinion these are clearly shown to be working. Not only this but nowadays there is a much wider range of A-Level subjects for example cookery and engineering. These are directed towards those who may not be particularly academic but are more vocationally successful. As well as this the overall support for those wanting to do A-Levels is much higher. There are study support lessons and particular revision sessions. It's definitely not an easier exam it's just easier to learn in the situations created or us.

Yes the UK A level is easy, and gets easier every year. It's getting to the point where you get a pass for turning up for the exam. This can be seen in the fact that most British school leavers (even the so called educated ones) have poor grammar and spelling. I also understand that the UK has the highest proportion of Illiterate school leavers in western world.

All of this is with great thanks to our wonderful government, led of course by Billy Liar.

Now that i've got only complete my A2 ranges I have been given A's in each unit and examination and ordinary of AAAB. yet that's no longer because of the fact they have been elementary, i replaced into only very desperate I placed all annoying artwork and soul into it. I did artwork & layout and it is composed particularly some artwork, I recommend each little thing has be very exact and accomplished in a quick volume of time. i do no longer understand why I have been given crap outcomes, i assume it replaced into because of the fact i did no longer placed lots attempt in, i replaced into very shy in college, i did no longer have lots self assurance in any respect to speak up. and that i replaced into decrease than particularly some rigidity getting like 10 coursework in distinctive matters complete, I used to get bullied lots so I wasn't very inspired sufficient and each and every time i attempted to revise for exams, my family individuals have been having arguments interior the residing house. i do no longer think of they're getting extra user-friendly, however the coaching is getting extra suitable, the faculties have extra suitable rules and stuff and there is often revision and homework golf equipment too, there are extra opportunities too. i think of a few toddlers are only extra desperate, like they do no longer % to stay with of their parents foot steps.
